An Apology regarding our Baseball players and the Draft.

I believe calling our players traitors was wrong, and I would like to apologize to them, the people on this board, and USM fans in general. It was an impulse of anger and now regretted. My conception of loyalty has long since passed the new world order, and this will serve to remind me that my opinions are more in line with the 1950s. Again I apologize and wish those players a bright future.

Thoughts about the impact coaches can have and timing

I've been thinking it was interesting that 2 coaches on different teams could have been here earlier and potentially had big impacts earlier.

Coach Ladner tried to hire Juan Cardona but he had already been hired at Mercer. Can you imagine if that hire had worked out then? Juan had a huge impact last season.

Coach Hall wanted to have Coach Sam Gregg on the staff earlier but he had made a commitment to Liberty. That could have made a huge difference.

I'm glad they are both here now.

MLB draft signing rules.

Each club has until 5 p.m. ET/2 PT on Tuesday, July 25, to come to terms with its Draft selections. If a player has exhausted his collegiate eligibility, he can sign at any time up until one week prior to the next year’s Draft.

Draft-and-follow picks -- high school and junior college players selected after the 10th round who attend a two-year college after the Draft -- can sign with their selecting teams for up to $250,000 up until a week prior to the following year’s Draft.

Players drafted from Round 11 on do not count against the bonus pools unless their signing bonus exceeds $150,000; any amount over that total will count against the pool.
