Pressure is on the defenses in the C-USA championship game

*** Our defense has been steadily improving. I will never forget how the D showed up at Houston in 2011. I remember seeing the Houston cheerleaders "sitting down" with shocked expressions and words as our D riddled the Houston offense. Houston was ranked #6 in the nation at that time in the season, and I admit that thoughts of that game had put knots in my stomach all year. Houston's offense was very good. However, our team came to play that day, and the destruction of the Cougars was a sight to behold indeed.

The first link below will take you to a youtube page with game highlights as well as the complete game if you want to watch The second link is to an article about the importance of defense in the upcoming Saturday CUSA " 'SHIP". I sure hope our injury situation has improved. prayers for those guys. and prayers for all.

Not trying to get ahead of myself but....

Next year could be huge for Southern Miss football. We have two SEC teams scheduled that I truly feel we can beat. LSU will be a huge test but I truly believe that we can beat them. I'm bringing this up because a co-worker went on a rant this morning about how Lanny and the guys on WMXI yesterday were talking about how we would beat Nebraska and MooU if we played them right now. My coworker kept saying we will always be the red headed step child in MS until we start beating these teams instead of just playing them close (he is a State fan). I understand his frustrations...I guess. My point is, next year we have the opportunity to beat some teams that we normally "shouldn't" beat. It's a great time to be a Golden Eagle and next years OOC schedule could help us tremendously if we play like I know we are capable of!

BTW, I'm new around here and I'm loving it! SMTTT!

Weather report

Weather report for Bowling Green Ky forecasts lows of 31 tonight, 28 Thursday, and 29 Friday. Saturday it should get up to 58. Call me suspicious, but I wonder what that field would be like at 11 a.m. Saturday if WKU turned on the sprinklers Friday night the way Louisville did for us one time? Hope Monken has the team bring slush shoes just in case.

Hey Lanny, Season Highlights Video?

Just a quick question if there might be any thought of the University producing a season highlights video (like the NFL teams do), you know, with a game by game commentary/analysis...and have it for sale on DVD? I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd absolutely be willing to purchase something like that! I think you could even sell something like a football card set of the team...I know other universities do it. Yes, I realize we're not the same as other (larger) universities, but I'm pretty sure there'd be enough interest in sports memorabilia such as a DVD or football card set to be somewhat profitable for the university.

Where to park at WKU

There is a parking garage which is adjacent and east of Diddle Arena (BB). The first 3 floors are reserved for the foundation club members but there is parking open to the public on a first in bases on the other floors. I was told by the folks at WKU that parking can be tight. They've only sold about 10,000 tickets according to the person I spoke with but if they're like us there will be a last minute rush for tickets. Most posters on their boards are thinking sell out. The weather will be great for football. And with folks in town for the high school football championship I would think some would attend the game since they will already be there. Parking map posted below. Remember that USM will have a tent in the South Lawn (across the street and south of the stadium).
