Fall Camp Report: Day 1....

Well, not too much to be learned from today's practice. So I will try and put a few things together for you....

1. Edwards probably had the best day of the 3 front-runners. Wiles started the day off and Edwards was next. Nothing to read into here. Edwards will start the day off tomorrow.

2. Hall did state Habas was out with some medical condition but didn't give out more info than that.

3. Everyone looked in great shape. Seemed as if Gore Jr may have gotten a step faster.

4. No injuries

5. It was the first day, everyone is excited. Tomorrow will be a day like today and we will focus on the defense more. Friday and Saturday will have more info as they get after it with shoulder pads on.

6. Brandon Hayes had a spectacular one-hamded catch. Nice to see him back after injury.

All-in-all a solid first day, yet nothing special.

Stay tuned as Dima Mixon (who is working Fall Camp for BGN will have more from in the upcoming days and weeks)

Wallner scored what turned out to be the winning run tonight against the Cardinals

He hit a "hit 'em where they ain't" double then scored on a great baserunning play from second base. Base hit to right runners on second and third he shuffled his feet approaching third and left fielder tried to throw behind him just as he sprinted for home and beat the relay from third. Cardinal broadcaster raved about the great baserunning play by Wallner.

Fall Camp Starts Tomorrow...

We will be having updates from camp. First few days will be conditioning along with play and scheme installation so those few days will be a little short on info. Once shoulder pads and helmets get put on then we will have a better idea of what is what. We are a little over a month away from Alcorn State, it will be here before you know it.

Southern Miss Football Fall Camp Preview: Quarterbacks

The dog days of summer are here which can mean only one thing. Fall camp starts in less than one month for the Golden Eagles.

Tyler Stuart has been recognized as the top pitching prospect in the Mets organization (MLB.com)

Mets: Tyler Stuart, RHP (Not ranked among Top 30)
Last year's sixth-rounder out of Southern Miss isn't ranked among New York's Top 30 now but certainly will be after the August update. The 6-foot-9 right-hander's 1.62 ERA between High-A and Double-A leads all full-season Minor League qualifiers, and that comes after he hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in any of his 16 starts in his first full season. Stuart debuted with Binghamton on July 15 and has allowed only three earned runs in 13 innings (2.08 ERA) over his first two Double-A starts. Stuart has great command for his size, can touch the mid-90s with his heater and leans heavily on his slider. (Mlb.com)
