I only hope the excitement on this board about the first game (This Saturday by the Way.).....

is not indicative of what the attendance at the Rock will be this year. With the first game only days away, we continue to discuss shatters, softball, volleyball, baseball, and other subjects on this board. I have never seen this much lack of zest before the football season opener ever. I would hate to think the lack of enthusiasm results in empty seats. However, the preseason reports provided on this board have been excellent, so lack of knowledge is not to blame. Some discussion topics: Why has the line dropped to USM only a 1 point fav? What injured players will not participate? What are the score predictions? I know there are things we can discuss if we are interested.

Good Interview With Jeremy McClain

Southern Miss Baseball Continues to Build 2022 Class

Two weeks ago, Southern Miss baseball lost a big commitment in the form of Ross Highfill (C, Madison Central High School). Highfill announced his commitment to Mississippi State on social media after stringing together standout performances at multiple showcase events over the summer. Since Highfill’s flip, the revamped coaching staff (Ben Brewer, Keller Bradford) has quickly added two new commitments to bring the total to five committed in the 2022 class.

Jeremy McClain was at the Jackson Eagle Club lunch Thursday

It was a good lunch at the Jackson Hilton on County Line. There was a serve yourself buffet with good fried chicken, salad, veggies, banana pudding and another meat. There was a good crowd that was maybe 60 fans or more. Jeremy spoke for a while and then took questions. He said the questions part is always interesting. I don't remember which parts were sharable and which parts weren't. A couple of points that I thought were interesting involved the ticket office. There was a positive comment about the ticket experience this year versus in previous years. Jeremy said they had restructured the relationship between the ticket office and the Eagle Club so that they share responsibilities and try to make things smoother. The other was about season ticket numbers. He said we are at 8000 season tickets sold for the first time in 6 years. They want to get to 10,000 in the future. I enjoyed the talk.

Heath, I may have asked you this before.

What is the chance that some of the 2* players in the 2022 commitment class will move up to 3* players? They may be stuck at 2* but I don't know for sure. I think the recruit rankings by various sources use the number of stars as a guide. It may play a factor in how we rank overall especially in our conference which is a good recruiting tool. Right now Marshall has 23 commitments of which 10 are 3* players and ranked 37th. We have 15 commitments with only 5 that are 3* players and we are ranked 69th.

Conditioning?

I don't recall hearing one word on here since WH took over about our conditioning program, nor our conditioning coach. Do we even have one? Doesn't show we do on the website. Nothing said. Especially in Fall Camp reports.
What kind of shape is this team in? Can we play as hard in the 4th qtr. as the 1st? Kind of a big deal.
