At the beginning of the season last year, I predicted we would have only five wins, which was close to how it ended. However, this year I predict we will have only five losses. We must stay healthy, win our home games and pick up most of the road games. That can be accomplished with our strong defense and scoring from the bench.

Living in Georgia, I hear a lot about Stetson Bennett, so I get a lot of reminders that we had a shot at signing him because we had an assistant coach who had developed a relationship with his family and all we had to do was make an offer (the assistant coach wanted to sign him) and we didn’t because Jay Hopson — in his infinite stupidity — didn’t think Bennett would be a good QB and wouldn’t make an offer. God I’m so glad we got rid of Hopson, he never should have been our HC in the first place

Do we have a NIL collective set up? I have reading on the ON3 website and they have a data base establishing NIL values for particular athletes. Ole Miss says they have 5,287 members of the “Grove Collective” with over $10M raised so far. I don’t think it is reasonable to expect that kind of support but I’m curious what we are doing if anybody knows.

The first loss of 2022 for the Golden Eagles came at the buzzer on Sunday afternoon.

Southern Miss will play in a bowl game for the first time since the Armed Forces Bowl in 2019.

Given that ticket sales are a significant component in bowls selecting teams, Southern Miss is more likely to play in the Camellia, Independence, or Lending Tree Bowls. Although, there is always a chance for a wild card as multiple components are at play - such as the teams ahead of Southern Miss in win total.

Kinda feels like a snub. Troy won the tougher by far league, has an identical record and finishes one step lower.

Lady Eagles had Media Day and those Jerseys are fire hot!! They chose a player from each grad year to post. This team and Coaches have been working hard, making adjustments and creating a healthier environment for these players. They are fired up and ready to take on our new conference which will be tough!

Our pitching is our weakest link right now.. not because of lack of talent, but because we only have three. That’s a lot to put on their shoulders. Our defense is stout and based on those fall numbers showed our offense as made tremendous improvements. My hope, as a parent, is this program and coaches gain more support from the community. Seven days they all go home for Christmas break, then come back and grind for season to begin! I hope to see some of you all at the home games this year!!

Enjoyed seeing them beat UCF. It also makes our win over Tulane this season look even better.
