count down to signing day

Happy new years BGN. It is now time to get excited about the signing class to be of 2016. I really believe coach has USM going in the right direction. With the commitment list that has already signed and those not yet. It looks to be a good one. The question is who will we lose to transfer and non-qualifier status. My hope as yours is that we keep all of them. I believe coach has a few surprises in store for us also. Have a great day and enjoy the football games today. I know I will.

My Life....

Seeing the thread about Noodles wife reminded me of the day I lost my wife. 2-3-2012 started like any other day, it got really good when my boy who was only 5 months old at the time reached out for his mama for the first time. But around 3:55 that afternoon she started having an asthma attack.

For the next 30 minutes I watched my wife fight an invisible monster. I listened as she gasped for air begging me to help her breath. we waited on an ambulance that arrived 5 minutes too late.

I miss her but I have grown from that experience. I remember coming on BGN asking yall to pray for me and my son. Alot of you did. This BGN board reminds me of family. We don't always agree with each other, hell more often than not we desagree but we dont let others talk about us.

If I were in a bar in Starkville and I saw anyone messing with you I'd have your back in a heartbeat. Family does that kind of stuff..

As for me, my life is back on track. I am in school and I have a new woman in my life. She is a widow with two daughters and gets the ins and outs of my daily battles with grief. My son is a tall 4 year old, full of smiles. I also started a group on Facebook for people who've lost a spouse. We have well over 4,000 members now and last year we had our first ever get together in Gatlinburg Tn.

Adversity builds character, but it also helps alot having good prayer warriors in your corner. God Bless You All and Happy New Year.

8 Wins THIS SEASON!

I believe we will be at least 2-2 heading into October. By then the Juco players will have meshed into our scheme. I do not see a definite loss after September, and I think with all the youth that we have played the last couple of years, these guys are HUNGRY for a Championship! I don't know if we will get there quite yet, but I do believe we make a strong statement.

Redshirts

who are some of the redshirts we can expect big things from next year? Derrick Dixon, J Allen, , ect..
What about guys coming off injury? Washington, M Ricard, K Douglas, ect
Any possible position changes? Maybe Freeman to OT or Parks moved back to D, or even someone like K Robertson at 6'0 220 moved to an outside LB. thoughts?

Time to rate the 2011 football signing class...

Now that the last players from the 2011 signing class have played their last game at Southern Miss it is time to rate the class overall. If a player contributed at all during the 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014,or 2015 seasons I have included it in my rating. By my count of the 25 players signed 3 were all-stars, 5 more contributed significantly, 2 played some during their time at Southern Miss , and 15 never contributed on the field. The 3 all-stars were Michael Smith, Rakeem Nunez, and Rashod Hill. The 5 in the next group that played a lot were Vincent Brown, Martez Thompson, Emmanuel Johnson, Lance Shuffert, and Terrick Wright. The 2 that played some and left Southern Miss early for vastly different reasons were Ed Wilkins and Ricky LLoyd. Of the other 15, I have no memory of them playing at all. I will admit I have an imperfect memory and 5 different football seasons is a lot to remember. I am open for corrections for the 15 that never played where my memory has failed and differences of opinion concerning the other 10 players.
