What's wrong with Doug Nussmeier?

I personally think this dark horse coaching candidate could be Todd Monken all over again. He applied for the head job when we hired Monken three years ago but was green at that point. He was the OC for Alabama when they won the national championship. He then took a job with Michigan which crumbled under Brady Hoke but was well regarded enough to get hired by Jim Mcelwain. Blaming him for Florida being inept on offense would be no different than blaming Monken for our pathetic offense two years prior to this one. They had a QB transfer, a redshirt freshman quarterback go down after they got things rolling, and they put in a kid who can't throw against S.E.C defenses. This guy is 45, "fiery", a former quarterback and well-regarded quarterback coach, and he believes he's ready to be a head coach. Like Monken, he could be wiser and more prepared the second time around applying for the job. I'm very interested in this interview.

I think if its Nussmeier....

We would have set the bar low on our program. He may of had success in previous jobs but most offensive coordinators have success at Alabama Michigan etc... And to be frank Coach Saban didn't try to stop him from leaving Alabama for Michigan and Michigan coach Brady Hoke lost his job after Nussmeier became offensive coordinator there. Why? Because the offense was dreadful. Not to mention he does NOT run a spread offense! I just don' like this at all if its him.

Meachum,

Lanny or anyone, do you think we are really thinking about him. They run the spread at TCU. They throw the ball a lot. We are loading up with receivers and he is what our offense is all about. TCU scores tons of points that the other teams defense is on the field so much they are tired by the end of the half. Even though a new coach usually brings in his own coaches, he just might keep our OC and DC which would be a big plus for him and our team and recruiting. I give him the thumbs up over Nussmeier and his pro style of offense since we don't have the personnel for his style of game.

If Duggan is the new head coach...

I personally don't like having a DC as HC in this league...slow and plodding reminds me too much of ELLLLLLLLLLLLOS. I understand the reason though wanting to keep the coach staff together. This situation reminds me of the Illinois coaching debable of the coach being fired right before the season beginning, then the interim was named HC at the end of the year. The interim coach was only offered a 2 year contract, though(I wouldn't see that happening though here). Trying to make the best out of bad situation. All I can say is the offense better not miss a beat even if a DC becomes HC.
