My boss (USM alum & supposed fan) claims that there's only a certain age range of people who are excited about Jay Hopson as our head coach. I've already partially proven him wrong, since I'm 37 and don't fall in the age range that he claims is the only age group that's excited about the hire. LOL

If you will, please take my poll, so I can show him that we have people of all ages excited about this hire!

Help me prove my boss wrong! SMTTT! ;)

I suppose this had to happen, you can't hire a new coach and not

allow him or expect him to bring in his own folks. It's a tough business. All of them know it. And when they get a chance to move up they do. But I hate it for our staff, watching them twist in the wind, losing their jobs and knowing that except for High School teams jobs will be scarce at this late date.
I sure hope Hopson knows what he is doing. I hope he doesn't cut off OUR nose to spite OUR face. We'll see.
Monken gave his staff a real screwing bailing like he did. The staff did yeoman's work maintaining our signing class while the vultures surrounded attempting to pick our class clean. Then BAM! Your fired! one day later.
Yes sir, it's a tough business.

All the breaking news from Mobile

and I may make up a few things to keep it interesting.
All from one on one conversations with various USM folks.

The McNair rumor was true. Parting of ways due to his not graduating plus a few other issues (not sure he was working real hard in class but that could be a bad interpretation.

The running back going to Marshall will be a prop 48 which Marshall continues to take.
All those late signees today that we never heard of are kids with great athletic skills but who are unlikely to qualify.
We will help them find a good juco which will develop their talent and hopefully sign them in two years, if we want them. The kid from Canton probably has a chance, huge upside, strong, and we will have room for him if he qualifies. All schools do this kind of thing to build relationships with HS programs.
Woodfin is a rock star, loves Southern Miss, gets great support from BM and is excited about working with JH.
Locker room rumors: false, nothing has stopped but as we tear out we find unexpected things and have to adjust. Order of work= weight room first, lockers second, nutrition 3rd. All is well. We are enhancing a few things in the plans but fund raising for that is on track.

Crowd of 40 or so, lots of young folks which is great to see.

Am sure I forgot something and am sure did not hear 10% of the actual presentation but know that Rock Solid or someone will fill in the blanks
Well done Mobile.
I posted a few pictures on Twitter for those who use it.

Coaches are next

In many ways this will be more interesting than signing Day . I think Hopson keeps at least half the staff. (Uninformed guess) I am sure this process is not going to move as fast we hope.

It is his Ass on the line, so will support him either way.

Woz. , oline coach , Pollard and Dline coach is my wish list. With Hop being a D coach, it may not be a fit with Duggan.

Total Failure on Rivals/Yahoo! today

Guys

I want to formally apologize for what happened with our messages boards for the past hour or so, it was a total, unmittigated failure on the part of Rivals/Yahoo!.

Thank you for staying with me and following on Twitter as we continued to break news as we could. Thank you again and I will do whatever I can to insure that next NSD we will not have this same experience.
