Thought about QB situation before NW State

With Wilcke getting the start, I am expecting him play pretty much the whole game or until it is out of reach. Got to get him ready for Tulane. They will run Keyes at QB a few plays in different situations, but I don't think we will see them alternating possessions. It is now Wilcke's job to lose. This is my opinion.

Most impressive thing about the game tonight....

Coach Armstrong's mother passed away earlier this week. He went back and forth to Alabama where he is from, was at practice everyday, gave the eulogy at the Funeral yesterday, and coached his team to a dominating performance today.

I don't know about you all, but that is more impressive than winning today's game in a blowout.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly to this Point.

The Liberty game was a self-defeating loss. We did learn the OL is better than last year, not 100%, but better. The defense initially looks fantastic, but the luster is lost later. Kickoffs are going deep, and field goal-kicking is pretty good. Punting is good. The protection against the rush has been good, but against Miami, it was a letdown; no team would look good if they were held every play. The major problem seems to be the red zone offense. We lack plays that work well in this area. I watched a game yesterday where a little jump pass was scored. A QB sneak will not work when eight men are over the center. Time out should be called to adjust. Play calling, in general, is suspect.

This team can achieve a winning season if there can be some offensive adjustments. A more imaginative play calling is mandatory.

Thoughts on loss at Miami

1. I hate moral victories. A loss is a loss. Some good things done today but not enough for a win.

2. Wilcke looked pretty good at times and made Freshman mistakes.

3. Tackling was just terrible. That will be fixed hopefully.

4. They were faster and stronger in the trenches. Not much you can do about that except recruiting, but they get top recruits because of facilities and money.

5. Will will have to make a decision. Does he stick with Wilcke or go back to Keyes. I will talk about that more when Ty gets to return from injury.

6. Next 2 games are winnable and will decide the season. If they can win the next 2 a bowl is there to be had.

7. Next game should be a win and a chance to correct dome things.

8. Hope you enjoyed the coverage so far this season and a big Thank You to Jackson for making the trip. It was only BGN and Student Prints at the game.

9. The SBC is so much fun. Got 3 big wins yesterday. Time for USM to step up and do their part. State and Ole Miss have claimed SEC for years while riding the bottom of the division. USM is better than that. Just my opinion.

Even though it was 2 losses to open the season, this team is much improved. They need to string a few wins together and create momentum. That starts with Northwestern State.
