I don't know how you don't like Dawson as our OC. I would have

kept coach Woz, but Dawson was terrific at West Virginia and whatever failings Dana Holgerson has had at WVA offense hasn't been one of them. I hate letting coach Meadows go...and texting him his walking papers is really classless and cowardly. He made measurable improvement the last two years so Hopson needs to be wise with the next hire. He won't find one better, hopefully he'll find a good one who'll work for peanuts.
Back to Dawson, he coached with Hal Mumme also, so I suspect we won't be going back to the Bower days completely. I hope not. The Kentucky fiasco was not Dawson's fault in my opinion. UK owes him 550,000
so coach Dawson is leaving a job that paid more than our head coach.
Still no word on coach Duggan, but with Hop bringing in his Alcorn guys it looks bleak for him. I hope coach Duggan sticks around. I still look for Randy Butler to get a job coaching the D-line.

OT- Local Coach and USM supporter

Had a heart-warming event that happened at his basketball game at Lamar Christian a couple of weeks ago. That local coach happens to be my son. I highly recommend that you watch the interview. It is a great story.

Which Southern Miss team over achieved and under achieved

1997 team over achieved alot of sophomores Pinkston, Gideon, Thomas and Slaughter. The 97 team was young but very good. But the few seniors on that team was truly leaders. #43Marchant Kenny and #21 Latrell Pollard.

Tie between the 1989 Southern Miss and 1998 Southern Miss teams. The 89 team #6 Florida State featured two feature 1st round draft picks Brett Favre and Tony Smith and finished the season 5-6.

1998 Southern Miss bought back all those sophomores from the 97 team, had a bull a running back. But lost 21-7 to an undefeated Tulane team, then went to Boise and lost in the Humanitarian Bowl to a good Idaho team. Finished 7-5

OT but Southern Miss related......

I'd like to share this post that I posted on Facebook earlier today: Mobile AL

A cool thing happened. I took an uber the other night after a mardi gras parade from The Merry Widow music venue after hearing a good band. While fumbling for a tip I left the band's CD that I had just purchased. With the Uber app you can contact your driver and sure enough he had it and said he'd do anything I wanted to get it back and we talked for awhile and he told me he was uberring to raise money for his son's saxaphone. Apparently his son is very good and in the process of searching schools and scholarships for his jazz niche. Well to make a long story even longer, I mentioned the School of Music at Southern Miss. He said they have identified 28 colleges but it was not on their list. He did some research and contacted me and said he was blown away. So Miss offers a BA in Jazz Studies and none of the other 28 did......he stated that So Miss went from not even being on the list to their No.1 pick at the moment. Said he was going to mention me to the alumni office.....and he thinks me leaving the CD was a grand plan for them.
