If there is ever a team that is always under a rain cloud, it is us. I can not believe how misfortune is so embedded in the team. Many times since last year, I have talked about the fact that we have never had any luck. Why do bad things happen when we have a spark of momentum? I guess you make your own luck.

Why do we have two QBs injured during a game, and other teams never have this happen to them?
Why do we have a field goal kicker who last year hardly missed, and this year missed everything?

Why do we flub up whenever we get in the short red zone?

The only thing that needs to change is to hire an HC from Notre Dame or Ole Miss. They have all the luck. I am not convinced our coaches are playing the right players. When the OL opens a small crease, our RBs are not hitting the hole quickly enough. They are not strong runners. It may be better to play JQ more because he is more shifty and faster. I wonder how long it will be before Jalen Washington will be playing. He is probably the best we have, even as a freshman. In my opinion, the OL did a fair job in this game. Even with the terrible beating, I do see some improvement. The penalties must be eliminated, and Tate must be healthy for Jax. If we can get Dannis back for this game, we will win. He is our biggest asset offensively. I believe John White can do the job if it comes down to it. SMITT

Any information on injuries? This could be season-ending if these guys can't come back soon.

PAC-12 still needs two more schools added before 2026 season to remain as a FBS Conference. The announcement says WSU and OSU will consult with the four new members on who it will target next. MWC exit fees are hefty, $17-Million per school and the scheduling agreement between the two conferences also calls for payments to the MWC for poaching schools....so, unless there is someone that is an obvious fit from the MWC, conventional wisdom says up to four schools will be targeted in the AAC (Memphis, UTSA, Tulane, USF) AAC exit fees aren't as high.

MWC will be down to eight teams and should another be targeted by the PAC-12 it would have to expand to remain a FBS conference. There exists a possibility of remaining membership voting to dissolve so as to be more attractive to the PAC-12, MWC, AAC or even C-USA by eliminating the exit fees. IMO, there's not much meat left on the MWC bone. Those teams in the largest media markets arent the number one or two supported teams in that market. (ie San Jose, Utah State) UNLV quite possibly is the only school left in the MWC that has value.... but is it worth $28-mill because thats the total to add MWC teams.

I am shocked that we are only an 11 point dog this weekend.

The game with SF will determine whether we go bowling or not. From what I can tell, the spread is around 11 points. They have a shifty quarterback and a good passer in Byrum Brown. Contain him, and there is a chance, but when he gets out of the pocket, nothing but trouble can result. We know about him, but what about us?

The OL will be a factor in whether we make a bowl appearance. We must have a 100% turnaround in their performance, nothing less. We placed a lot of chips on Conti and Nunnery to fill the void, but their performance has been disappointing so far. Cavazos is somewhere in another world. I have doubts about the coaching of these guys, as well. The two deep players are not playing up to par, either.

The defense must shine extra bright because the run and pass will test it, as their quarterback can do both. Perhaps Will James can pull off a pick-six (he will have one soon.) A spy has to be put in place for B. Brown.

If Dannis is not 100%, I would save him for Jax'ville. We will likely be in a must-win situation. Mims must play like the Mims of old. They should get Gray the ball more and use Crawford more.

Covering the spread will be a good sign as we face Jax. That game will decide our chances this year. I see some hope for us by having good coaching, eliminating penalties, concentrating, and executing properly.

Time is getting shorter for WH. A bad loss this week and next week will put me in a position where I can not help him.

Anybody else love the ManningCast. Peyton, Eli, and Belichick. What a great way to watch MNF! It's like watching the game with three uncles who REALLY REALLY know football. Entertaining as hell. I do wish they would stop talking over one another. That is annoying. If they get that worked out, home run show!

I said in an earlier post that I wasn't concerned that Southern Miss might lose. I was curious in the way USM would win the game. Would it be a closer contest than should have been and the Eagles pulled away late. Would it be an ugly game that showed no growth but was won because of more athletes and scholarship numbers. Or would it be a dominant win that any FBS should have over a normal FCS opponent.

This team has talent on it. By any metrics available, this is Hall's best team he has had since becoming the HC. I had hoped to see this team start to show signs of growth. We didn't see that.

The OL was pushed around by an FCS front. That shouldn't happen. No push in the running game and Tate was throwing off his back foot all game. It's going to be a long season if this is the blocking we see.

Defense played pretty good. Thank goodness the Lions couldn't catch a cold. They had guys running open and they just dropped a number of passes. Great play by Lawrence on the pick-6. He baited the QB to throw that.

If there is no growth this week, USF will come in here and put a loss on this group. Then a trip to Jacksonville State looks even more unwinnable. This team starts 1-3 and a bowl could be out of reach.

I wonder if this storm continues on its projected path and if South Florida will have to adjust its travel plans.
