Ok, changing the flag is ok, but do you know what gripes my ass. The fact that we did it and the almighty sec and the black athletes at the state Universities issued a ultimatium. The sec threatened the two schools up north with no champion, or regionals if it didn't change and cusa did the same to us. A did the ncaa. The athletes threaten not to play again until it was changed. Just like everything else they got their way. No conference should tell a state how to run their business. I would have waited until the football season was over and made the change next year and called the athletes bluff. If they didn't play replace them. It is like an employee telling the boss what to do of he won't come to work. Fire him and get on with business but don't let people tell you how to run the state. Of course all of the lawmakers in Mississippi are om or state and you knew they would buckle and give in.

Prior to our President removing the state flag from campus there were three flags flown at USM’s main entrance, US flag, state flag and USM flag. Now all three poles fly the US flag.

I go Monday and start getting fit for my prosthesis. This is about a 3 week process then learning how to walk on it is another 2 or 3 weeks. Good news is I will be back walking and mobile to am extent when practice starts that I will be able to give updates. Thanks to everyone for the prayers and text. Getting back to reporting on Southern Miss Sports is something I live and the driving force making me want to walk again. You all have been great and I thank you for standing by me during this.

PS. The coaches and administration at Southern Miss has been incredible and have called to check on me and always ask if I need anything. Coach Hop has invited me to being the team out for the first game vs USA. If there are no setbacks I hope to do that!!!

I am so proud of the Mississippi legislature in voting today to remove the state flag that contains the Confederate battle flag. Jay’s brother, Sen. Briggs Hopson, deserves a lot of credit for his leadership on this issue.

The temperature is changing. Basketball is in March Madness. Southern Miss baseball and softball is in full swing. This could mean only one thing for Southern Miss football, it is time for spring practice. With the spring game at the end of April, we are only a few weeks away.
