I hear there might actually be a game this weekend, even though the tournament was cancelled. Will get you more when I find out more. No I am not sure who the opponent is, yet.

As in the season last year the Eagles continue to be bitten by the snake. For example: In the LaTech game, that reception by the Tech receiver with his foot down 2 inches in bounds. The forward progress stopped when Jack took the lateral and scored a TD. Missed field goals that could have made a big difference. Things have NOT gone our way in the last few years. I know it is said you make your own breaks but this is ridiculous. Looking back, can anyone think of a bad break that may have cost us a game in the last year or two?

Billings:

Impressed with how hard the kids played.
Tate played well for only getting 1 week of practice.
Gave up 1 big play on defense.
Team is getting better.
Good chance Tate will not play this week, but he is day to day
Jack Walker is the 3rd QB.
I felt like they were so explosive offensively that trying the fake FG was worth it.
Going on a short week is tough. UAB has had 2 weeks off. This is a crazy year and another adversity.
Tim Jones is healthy and playing well.

Kubik:

He saw a football team that doesn't give up.
Upset that they weren't up 2 TD's early in the game.
Got to find a way to make a few extra plays to win the game.
Been challenging to come up with game plans for different QB's.
Tate played really good especially after being hurt.
Trey has been getting reps he wouldn't have normally got at the beginning of the season. HE has been getting better. Walker has experience at JUCO level.
UAB is the most talented defense in the league. They are well coached up front and 2 good DE's.
UAB coaches have had plenty of time to watch film.
A few RB's got banged up a bit, but nothing serious, the Stable is some tough guys.
Frank Gore Jr is really battling with turf toe, but he is tough and will battle it out.

Pecoraro:

Kids played their butts off. They only had 1 play over 20 yards, but that was a long run, they battled all game and I am proud of them.
A lot of guys are getting better and the D is getting better.
I should have got Portlock in the game, I am going to get him more involved in the game this week.
UAB hasn't played in a month seems like. We know what they were doing a month ago, but they may be the same scheme wise, but may throw more wrinkles in.

Who greeted the Seniors on the field yesterday? It was Billings & the Associate AD. I wonder where McCain was off observing?!?

I was just told that Blake Anderson is a serious candidate. He may want a new start. What do you guys think? High probability that Austin could be his OC.

Well Tate Whatley is back under center this week. Can the defense continue to improve and get some stops against a really good UTSA offense. One thing is for sure, the Eagles are a 2nd half team, but to win this week, they must play all 4 quarters solid. Let's have a little fun discussing the game....

Just got word it looks to be an AC sprain in his throwing shoulder. Will probably be out for a while if that is the case. Although, I am no doctor and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night.

Any news on Tate?

This guy had by far the best game of any defensive player last week and he can’t see the field today other than special teams! WRF?

The WR's were upset monday about the gameplan this week and sorta walked out of practice. There was a meeting and everything seems to be OK now after they did some type of punishment drills yesterday. We shall see tomorrow. The Soap Opera of 2020 continues.

I was at the game yesterday. Here are my thoughts:
Coaching-C 3 weeks ago, UTSA woulda blown us out. Billings get credit for shoring up the defense and holding them to 300 total yards
Offense-C- We are still largely one dimensional even with Gore and company. Tate looked good out there, but scoring 20 points usually doesn’t get you a win unless you’re blessed with a top 10 defense. Shoulda scored a touchdown in first quarter in SW corner of end zone.
Defense-B 69 yard TD missed run assignment by d-backers really hurt our win chances. Other than that, guys played a great game.
Special Teams-C+ Poor punting and a missed fake field goal attempt cost this group a higher rating. Boo made both his attempts and coulda made another one to go up 6. Heath made mention it was a bad coaching decision on the fake FG; however, I liked the call we just didn’t have the right personnel in place. I was sitting right on top of the play and I’ll tell you it never had a chance.
Overall-C Coulda won this one!

Tough loss.
The defense played well and the offense had some good drives but left 3 TD's out there.
Felt they were in a position to attempt the fake FG, but we didn't get it done.
Don't know about Tate yet, he played hard. Hasn't played in 3weeks and competed hard.
The went to 2 TE sets and ran the ball on the Eagles and then we made some adjustments.
Frank Gore Jr is a tough football player.

Biggest difference the last 3 weeks is knowing if we do our job and believe in each other they can stop teams.
Was surprised on the INT, but it was a gift lob and I said thank you.

Davidson (Mobile, AL) High LB Zach Portlock has tweeted out that he is committed to Southern Miss.
In talking with Zach, his offer is a preferred walk-on. He seems very excited and is looking forward to joining the Southern Miss program.
