UNT Game 2 Postgame Presser Quick Hits

Ladner:
Played hard in 2nd half, but we dig too big of a hole and that is tough to overcome.
Johnson played really good today.
We have to figure out a way to get Draine going. He has a foot injury. He did not miss a shot in warmups.
At half I challenged our pride and they responded, but just too big of a hole to dig out of.
UNT is a defending champion with everyone back. They are very good. When we got momentum, they went to Hamlet and he did a great job of making a play and shots. He is CUSA player of the year for a reason.
We played well enough in 2nd half for an upset, but the 1st half killed us.
They did a good job of taking away the 3 point shot. We still have to make more 3 point shots.
We lack consistency especially we need to find a group that is consistent. We are trying to figure it out, and we will keep working at it.
We also need something good for this team. Losing is wearing on this team.
I am inpatient and want to win, but we have to keep staying the course and believe in our process.
I am telling them to keep working hard and things will eventually go our way.

I was watching interviews with Will Hall...

And I found something interesting. I have stated this before but bears repeating. He was asked about his offenses at Tulane and how run heavy he was. His answer gives me hope. He pretty much said he had to go run heavy because that is what the former coaches at Tulane recruited towards. He said the offense here would be ae to run the ball, but will be much more diverse. The talent coaches have recruited here is for a wide open spread. Former OC's here have tried to make players adjust to their system. Will Hall is the opposite. He will adjust his system to the players strength. Not sure we will learn a whole lot watching Tulane last season. Maybe designs of run blocking, but his pass patterns will probably be different and will send more than 3 receivers in routs and keep the rest for blocking with 2 TE sets. Just an observation, what do you all think?
