Southern Miss MBB gets Mercer Grad Transfer

Felipe Haase 6'9 235 lbs F

14.8 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 3 Ast, 48.2% FG

Nice addition of a scorer here. Good size, but would like to see the rebounds higher. Adds scoring so now:

Production leaving: 62 PPG, 23 RPG, 19 Ast.

Production coming in: 44 PPG, 14 RPG, 10 Ast.

Got 2 scholarships left to fill, so need to sign some offensive production.

Softball and Conference chances….

It’s been an up and down ride this entire season. Nice to see we can beat SEC teams and held our own against Alabama. I know some see this as an excuse, but we have a young team and those freshman are a force to be reckon with. We should only go up from here.
So, based on standings right now WKU, Marshall and FAU are top three in East.

North Texas, La Tech and UAB are the top three in West.

Then it goes by two wild cards based on next best winning percentage. Which would be Charlotte and UTSA. As of how the standings are going into games tomorrow.

We still have a shot and it appears Charlotte and what they do will be a deciding factor based on our winning percentage and theirs. This series will be a tough one for us to take based on La Tech and where they are sitting. If you are only factoring in numbers. I always say… Any given day a team can beat and lose to another team. Here’s to a successful weekend of ball playing for our lady Eagles 🍻 🍻🍻

Story posted today that involves government theft, an experimental drug, a developer, Phil Bryant, Brett Favre and a Southern Miss volleyball facility

This article about a scheme to fund an experimental concussion drug was posted today by Mississippi Today. It’s a convoluted situation but it involves a few Southern Miss connections, including among other things the pledging of (allegedly) stolen federal money to build a volleyball stadium at Southern Miss (I told you, it’s convoluted).

2 New NIL Terms That Hopefully Explain Some Of This Craziness.....

So, this is turning into nothing more than Free Agency without a cap and it is the wild west. Supposedly the NCAA will pass some rules to combat this. (We shall see)

Collective: A group of people who get together, put money in a pot, and schools can use that money for any player they want.

Directive: This is an individual who uses his money for a certain individual player.

College Administrators see this is a problem and sent out a warning to stop this. They will encourage the NCAA to take steps to stop this. You and I both know this won't work. Too many states have their own laws that affect this and the NCAA can't really do anything.

What did Administrators think was going to happen when they started allowing NIL.

When star players and award winning players enter the portal this was going to happen.

No blame to the players, they are just doing what they are allowed to.

What do you think?

Here is where the series vs ODU was lost...

Yes, pitching was good enough in both games. Hold this team to 4 runs per game and USM should win.

In 2 games the Eagles are 2-17 with runners in scoring position. That's absurdly bad. Bases loaded no outs and a pitcher struggling and you get only 1 run.

Veterans are turning in awful at bats, and the 2, 3, 4 and 5 guys are not contributing at the plate.

Tomorrow is a win at all cost if they want any chance at backing into a hosting spot. However to host, they must win the regular season and they are only 1 game in the lead if the UTSA v Marshall games holds up and UTSA wins. Doesn't get any easier with UTSA in town next weekend.

Thoughts on game 1 loss to ODU

Hall was really, really good. 8IP, 3R, 13K against that lineup should be a win.

1-11 with RISP will not ever get it done.

7,8,9 in the lineup was 0-11. Faust is hitting .167 that is all that needs to be said.

Riggins better show up amd keep his pitches down or it will be another long game.

Eagles need to chase the starter tomorrow who is 6-0 3.65 ERA,get in that pen early.

That is it, pretty simple.

Just spoke to Coach Hall regarding transfer portal...

With Summer almost here I wanted to reach out and ask Coach Hall about the portal:

There will be no additions added at QB or the skill positions.

They would perhaps add a player in the trenches, but it would have to be a perfect fit.

I don't look for them to add anyone from the Portal. To add someone they would need to push someone forward and that would take a scholarshio away from the next recruiting class. Hope this answers some questions for some.

We are witnessing a starting pitcher develop.

Matt Adams was outstanding last night. Against a good lineup loaded with leftys he went : 6.2IP, 4H, 3R, 9K, 0BB. If a tough play is made by Lynch (not his fault, that was a tough play to make), Adams goes 7 Innings, 3H, 1R, 9K, 0BB. He is adding even more depth in he pen and is that Mid-Week guy Hall was. He has a really bright future at Southern Miss.

Happy Birthday to my mother Joan Hinton.

We have been through so much the past 10 years and she is amazing. She is a rock I can lean on, she is always there to give advice (even if wanted or not lol). She wakes every morning and says a prayer, comes in and tells me "I Love You" no matter what may be happening. She takes me to appointments and never once complained about having to do so. If there were a HOF for mothers she would be inducted in the 1st class. Oh, and she is a die-hard Golden Eagles fan who isn't afraid to share her opinion to me, lol!!!!

Happy Birthday Mother!!! I AM SO BLESSED TO CALL YOU MOM!!!!!

LOVE YOU ❤️
