USM's Mike Thomas

Does anyone know what his 40 time would be? Talking heads saying this is the slowest WR class to come out in years, MSU's Wilson was the worst, ran like a 4.9 or thereabouts. I had heard Thomas was around a 4.7, can anyone confirm? Regardless, I think he is fast enough and I think he could have a great NFL career if he gets picked up by the right team.

Ticket Line

I get to the game at 6:40 last night and I have never seen a line like I saw at MGM Park. Were these people not expecting USM folks to show up or something , totally unprepared. I didn't get to my seat until the third inning and then I watch South reel off 3 runs and chase Stevens from the game. Terrible night and trip. How can you not be prepared for this? I think Trustmark does a much better job as host and maybe MGM had a bad night. Pretty inexcusable though.

Today and the next 7 days in baseball...

Will tell us how good we really are. For the first two weekends we have shown we are suppose (and can) win games we are suppose to. These next 7 days we are playing teams we are probably going to be competing against at the end of the year (regional seedings). Not saying we need to go undefeated, but we need to win more than we lose this week.

AAC VS CUSA

Let's take a look at why some really want to jump at the chance to move to the AAC so quick. First the AAC at the present has eleven members (waiting on Navy to join) of which of the eleven, Nine, that's right, Nine, were formally from CUSA. If not for getting and duping these teams of dreams of grandeur of which at the time they thought they would be going to the "Big East" and major bucks and one of the big conferences and major bowls and big tv money and big time recruiting commits and the such, they still fell for the AAC spill knowing that they wouldn't have the big time money. How did they know that? Well lets see. Every time a team left the Big East which conference did they rob? When they did become the AAC which conference did they poach from? Again the same, CUSA. So all of the CUSA teams are hell bent to get the hell out of dodge for greener pastures, for more money, bigger TV contracts, play better team mates because the ones they play in CUSA suck and aren't any good. Well lets see, here are the nine that I mention earlier that couldn't wait to get out of CUSA, to play better competition and all of the above,Cincy,Houston,Tulsa,East Carolina,USF,SMU,Tulane,Memphis,UCF and L'vill of course but got out as fast as they could. Uconn and Cincy is trying to get out now and if successful will leave them with nothing but all CUSA leftovers that didn't want to be in CUSA. And with AAC tv contracts coming up,and with ESPN money problems like they are, you can bet that the AAC is going to take a big hit there.
So, here it is in a nutshell, teams leave CUSA to play with what they think is better conference and better teams and better themselves, but the teams in that conference only took them to survive because they had to have a minimum amount to have a conference. They(former big east teams) couldn't wait to get out and thought they were above and better than them, like most P5 schools, result leaving nine of eleven former CUSA schools. Now they are no better than CUSA, and in next 3-5 years, CUSA, will pull ahead of our former mates. Sure Houston had a good year last year, but UCF, had a great year two year ago and finished 0-12 last year and now their head coach is gone. Southern Miss is back and our conference will be better also. Give us time. And by the way, UAB, is a joke and will never be relevant in football again.

Southern Miss basketball

I Posted this below in the Rumors thread and surely gets lost in the crowd. However, i feel passionate about what I posted and I am re-posting it here. Increases the possibility that more can jump my ass.

Without replying to any particular BGN poster, consider::::

On an annualized basis, that put Brown's pay at almost $2.8 million. SMU tax records showed Doherty being credited with about $635,000 in 2011 and just over $650,000 in 2012, including just over $485,000 in severance pay.

That is a copy/Paste

It gets OLD for folks with agendas to keep posting crap. If we want to hire a Larry Brown type and pay him 5.6 times more that we pay our new football coach, It does two things First of all, it tells recruits that we are passionately serious about Basketball. Secondly, It brings in an NBA coach that recruits want to play for. and lastly, SMU had good players when he arrived and he added by cheating a few more and they are where they are for now.

It gets OLD for people on here to continually raise SMU as their exhibit #1 that Doc has no excuse. Folks who do so, just add to the bleeding of our program. SHAME ON YOU.

Feel free, one or all to jump my ass for adding facts to this board. I'm not defending Doc, I'm just trying to help Southern Miss basketball

Bart Starr victim of 'brutal' secret Alabama hazing.... (So Miss Link)

From the article.....http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/...r_was_vict.html#incart_most-read_news_article

.......With Sington lost for the year with his ruptured disc, Starr was ruled out for the season opener against Southern Mississippi (called Mississippi Southern College at the time). It was a bitter day for Starr. Not only was his back in constant pain, but Alabama's season opener was in the quarterback's hometown of Montgomery.

After being hyped as a contender for the SEC crown, Alabama lost to plucky Mississippi Southern 7-2. Starr couldn't bear to watch from the sidelines of the Cramton Bowl. After sitting out the entire preseason, he entered the game in the final minutes in a last-ditch effort to manufacture some offense. From the Birmingham News:

"There was one bright moment of hope for Alabama when Bart Starr, who didn't get to work out for a week because of a strain muscle, came in with the time fading out. He got off a 14-yard pass to Lynch and the ball was on the 41. He was trying to make his second cast when Williams swooped in on him, knocking the ball out of his hands for keeps. Three line plays and the game was over."
