Saban says current track in college football will lead to less competitive balance....

This is kind of weird coming from the one coach and school that has gained the most from competitive imbalance.

Auburn has a state of the art baseball facility.

The most recent upgrades were completed prior to the 2021 and 2022 seasons with the completion of the Josh Donaldson Hitting Lab located beyond the right field fence, which opened in January 2021, and the conversion of the old hitting tunnels located behind the visitor's dugout into a state-of-the-art weight room prior to the 2022 season. In conjunction with the dedication of the 7,100-square-foot hitting facility, Auburn also dedicated the Tim Hudson Clubhouse and the Joey Pierson and Keith Jones Archways prior to the 2022 season and previously dedicated the home dugout to former head coach Hal Baird in September 2018.

Wow, a pile of rocks and some custom industrial mop handles would do the job. lololol

Clawed was right!

I can understand losing to Stanford, I can understand losing to Sanford, but I don't understand losing to Samford. When I made a football prediction this Spring, I think it was MP Eagle that asked me to give a baseball prediction. I told him it was tough to do so—too many variables. One never knows what players will return and other things. While the pitching this year has been satisfactory, batting has been the downfall.

Clawed asked if this team was overrated, and I tend to think so. Some predicted we would be a final 8 team, but we are not batting with consistency. At this point, I do not see us advancing, but anything can happen in this mysterious game.

Rematch with Samford tomorrow at 2 p.m.

Penn beat Samford 5-4. The winner of USM/Samford will face Penn tomorrow evening and if needed Monday. This group had to do this same thing last season against much tougher teams. Mazza, Sivley, Storm, Rogers, Chase Adams, Middleton, Trahan, Dawson. Monistere are all fresh arms. Beat Smford and turn this thing into an arms race with Penn.

Pair of Hosts Go Down

Auburn and Oklahoma State both were eliminated in two games, the first time we’ve had two hosts go 0-2 since 2019. Auburn struggled to mount any offense combining for only five runs in two losses. The Tigers dropped a 7-2 contest to 2-seed Southern Miss to end its season. The Golden Eagles hit four home runs in the win, as both teams had nine hits. Dusty Dickerson slugged a pair of dingers, while Danny Lynch and Chris Sargent added one one each.

Staying Alive

We’ve had some teams keep their seasons alive with elimination game victories.

In Conway, 1-seed Coastal Carolina had 14 hits in a 12-2 win over 3-seed UNC Wilmington. Coastal’s Riley Eickoff threw a 98-pitch complete game. Caden Bodine and Graham Brown each had four hits for the Chants.
