My Annual Basketball Predictions.

These are for the remaining regular season. Last year, my predictions were made following the Vanderbilt game, and I was only off about two games, as I remember. This year is a little more challenging to pick. Our schedule is a little more manageable, but there are concerns about free throw and field goal shooting. To be blunt, it has been outrageous. Scoring has been done by only about 2 or 3 players—no bench points to speak of. There is a weak inside game, so scoring must come from the perimeter, and this has been a sore spot. There are some severe issues with foul trouble. Some of our best players from last year have moved on, and a void has been left. We counted heavily on some new players, but only one has proven himself so far. At times, the defense is stellar. At other times, porus. Two players we were hoping to be able to participate this year will most likely not see. If the Eagles can turn the miscues around and start playing basketball, this is my prediction...

For everyone on this board.

I know everyone is about as tired of reading my posts about football as I am posting them. There is a simple reason we did not win yesterday and this season. Three words- WE BEAT OURSELF! From the most ridiculous play calling to the self-destructive personal fouls. There is no price to pay for players who commit them. We need a disciplinarian as an assistant coach. We need significant changes to the coaching staff on offense, defense, special teams, and strength and conditioning. Any coach(s) calling plays that elect to run Gore straight up the middle more than six times a game should be escorted to the stadium exit. For me, Hall has to use his so-called recruiting expertise to get some excellent players for next year, or he too can be escorted to the exit sign. No more football post for me till recruiting time.

More than I expected

Just back from the Stadium. It was a ballgame in the fourth quarter then it fell apart. States receivers dropped a bunch of completions which helped us immensely. Otherwise, defense played well only giving up a few big plays. Got tired late.
Offensively, do we have any short routes that pick up 5-10 yards? Insane asking true freshman to sit back in a collapsing pocket throwing long balls. No innovation to speak of. Running up the middle against SEC DLine was pure waste. Sprint the young QB out on RPO- safer than getting him killed in pocket.
All in all I was proud of our team. We should have beaten Appy State who’s taking out JMAD now

If you are making the trip to Starkville....

Take some time amd stop by the MAFES store for Miss State Agriulture. Their ice creme, milk, eggs, butter, smoked meats are really fantastic. I would suggest the butter pecan or Muscadine Rippe ice creme. Deep fried peanuts is an unexpected suprise.
