I enjoy listening to the Eagle Hour pretty much daily on 93.5 out of McComb. Parker Shaunfield was the special guest today ... he talked about his road to Hattiesburg and said the golden locks are gone!

Also, they mentioned that due to COVID issues with the Mean Green, the North Texas vs Houston game this Saturday had been cancelled. Not sure if that’ll affect our game in Denton next Saturday or not.

Spoke to Chris earlier and he coaches at Yale a few years before going to a community college. Going to sit down and speak with him this weekend.

Andrew Cole is ok will play, was injured, but will play vs Tulane.

Position group most improved WR and DB’s

Group less improved D Line played hard, missed assignments

Frank Gore Jr has the intangibles you can’t coach./ he is still young, reminds coach of Ito Smith

Keon is a great leader works hard has their respect

This game is important to recruiting. Tulane has really made inroads in recruiting in the Pine Belt. A lot of playmakers on both offense and defense are from South Mississippi.

There was major improvement on the offense.

Washington didn’t make the right block on the Interception, was a missed assignment or would have been 6.

Tulane has a really strong DL, #5 Cameron Sample and #77 Jeffrey Johnson (Brookhaven High School) are next level players

Frank Gore Jr, has a knack for making big plays. Really instinctive football payer/running back. Just like his dad, Frank Gore has a high football IQ

No big adjustments made on the OL, just got to work and get better and better

K Washington will be starting at LT

They hope to get Dee Baker back this weekend.

Coach Pec:

He thought the defense played harder and tackled better. the D Forced 16 or 17 3rd downs and couldn’t get them off the field.

Played a lot more guys this week than last week.

Keon has a strong arm, great athlete, good leader,will be excited to play against him. He will also be amped up to come back to Hattiesburg and play Southern Miss.

Tulane RB’s are good and they do a good job in run schemes.

Watched the 2nd half of Navy game and they took away some ideas from that.

They are going to try and get depth at LB with TQ Newsome getting more reps.

Frank Gore Jr:

The team is improving, getting better every week.

Biggest challenge for him was speed of the game.

Dad’s pointers:
Stay focused, talk to god, don't put unnecessary pressure on yourself.

Tim Jones is the guy who he looks up to the most with his attitude and approach to everything. He is a big time player but doesn’t act like it, just goes to work every day.

High football IQ comes from the his family

When younger he was a 49er fan. Now he is a fan of players not a team.

Mother is biggest role model: Mother taught him, be who you are and do what you do because he is special.

Please join us for the next 2020 Central Mississippi Eagle Club luncheon on Thursday, September 24th from 11:30 am-1:00 pm. The presentation will be via Zoom and the speakers are to be determined at this point.



The luncheon and presentation will be held at the Hilton Jackson located at 1001 East County Line Road in the main lobby Fitzgerald's lounge area with social distancing. The meal will be $19 and consist of a full buffet served by the Hilton staff from the restaurant area. If crowds are too large, overflow will be seated in the Crown room next to the restaurant. Those planning to attend can use any entrance and are asked to wear a mask while going to and from the meeting location.

I had gotten out of the habit of listening to it a few years back.

Although a loss, he never quit coaching and his team responded to his energy. I’m encouraged.

Starting next week

This game was difficult to score. We lost to a team of mostly 2’s and 3’s..Likely left 4 points on the field with a 4th down try on first possession and a poorly executed 2 point conversion. Stat wise, it wasn’t bad defensively, (302), but it sure looked bad from the stands. Really admire Scotty’s infectious enthusiasm, as it will eventually play out on the field. Not much left to say, but Abraham and Jones looked really good. Here you go:
