Ladner:
UNT has a good team. We had slow starts to both halves, It is difficult to come back from these.
We played hard, proud of the fight, UNT is a good team and CUSA Champions for a reason.
Disappointing we lost but happy to get back to it tomorrow.
They are well coached and are able to take players out of the game. Stevenson needs help from the our other biggs. We didn't do a good job giving him help.
Losing is not fun. The spirit of the team is good. We need something good to happen.
We got some good pieces and young players, but they are getting better, like Johnson, we still need a big body down low, we need a PG, we also need another player that can create at the end of the clock.
I really though the 1st group off the bench was the best 5 that played together tonight.
Tonight was the 1st game we didn't rebound well. They are big and physical down low. IT is our job as coaches to put the best 5 on the floor and we are looking into it every week.

To be honest, one of my favorite sports to cover!! Hoing to be a cold weekend so bundle up if you are heading to the game.

Ladner:
All jobs are open. We have got to stop the slow talk to halfs. I've tried everything but messing with the lineup. I think maybe changes will be made.
I take responsibility for the slow start at Rice. We started slow Sat, then substituted in mass, and we got back into it.
I think the only player that will stay in the starting 5 will be Stevenson. The other 4 are u for grabs.
We have to play well for 40 min not 30 min.
UNT is a mature, well coached team. They are full of Juniors and Seniors. That makes them dangerous. Their coach has done a good job of building the program.. They were not good when he took over, but have gotten better. They have size and some pieces that we are trying to develop. They good at taking the shot clock down and taking the shot they want.
We had a good practice today.
Justin Johnson is playing better, but it took him realizing that just because he has talent doesn't mean you will play. The bench made him realize what type of player he can be.

Pinkney:
We can't dwell on the loss, we have to watch clips of the game, forget it and get after iy in practice.
If we go ply D like we played early in the season, we can win these games.
We have to play better defense at the first 4 min of each half.
I have to work on ball handling. IT is all a mental thing to me.
Me and Johnson are roommates and we have a great way of communicating with each other and I wish everyone on the tam had that communication.

Where will the biggest improvement come this season? I actually think the offense will be better. The young guys were hitting better and moving runners when play was stopped last season. Pitching was good last season, and will be even better. I believe the offense, with a few new pieces, could be one of the most fun to watch in recent years. I also love "small ball" so I may be biased.

Nothing official, but hearing that Johnson will be in for Draine. Could be a starting 5 of Hardy, Pierre, Johnson, Stevenson, Pinkney with Harris, Malone, Artur,Draine coming off the bench. Moving Draine off the starting 5 and moving him to rotate in may be what helps him. He was much better off the bench as a Fr and Soph.

Before this basketball season started, there was a post that asked if this year's team could beat last year's team? My answer was yes they would beat them badly. I was wrong and I admit it. I owe them an apology.

If you watched yesterday's game, can you tell me (because I have no idea) what sort of defense are we trying to run? Players are completely lost. Rice was running in for layups and there was not a defender in five yards of him. I would like to ask why we do not run a zone? Rice was hitting 3's and our defenders were way away from them. Maybe a box and one or 3-2. I know we can't shoot but shouldn't we be able to defend? If anyone has any thoughts on this, please let me know. Coaching?

Well, it can't get much worse than yesterday. Eagles have to win a CUSA game on the road. Will they play better today? We shall see.....
