Here are 2 different football bowl game forecast with Southern Miss in a bowl game...

2 different forecasts with 2 different bowls and 2 different bowl opponents.

Interesting post from Louisiana Lafayette sports board...

Thoughts on win over ULaLa...

1. Team was ready to play on a short week. Incredible when this team has 71 Freshmen or Sophomore on it. This staff won 2 games in 11 days with a young team. Say what you will, that is impressive.

2. Offense moved the ball, but Hall went conservative in the 2nd half. With a defense like USM has that is understandable. However, they can't keep leaning on them. They will wear down.

3. O-Line played much better last night. Pass pro was good and Wilcke had time to throw the ball.

4. They didn't overuse the superback too much. They used it when needed and not on every down. It is much more effective that way.

5. The secondary is still giving up chunk plays. This defense is aggressive and that leads to one on one matchups in the secondary.

6. Special teams are a weapon and USM uses them well.

7. The Golden Eagles just need one more win to become bowl eligible. However, there is still much more to play for. A few things fall the Golden Eagle's way and who knows what may happen in this last part of the season.

Last night felt like a step back in time…

ESPN2 prime time Thursday night game. What appeared to be a pretty raucous home crowd on tv (no I didn’t come up from the Coast, 3 and 1 year old boys, I don’t get out much), exceptionally raucous student section, putting one of our long time little brothers and homecoming victims in their place instead of getting beat by them unlike so many instances over the last decade, and doing a PRIDE era Wanderlei Silva head stomp (look it up, golden era Japanese MMA was fantastically violent) exclamation point on them when we had them down with a late defensive TD. Haven’t had too many moments like this post 2011. Maybe we’ll look back and consider this game the game we finally turned the corner. SMTTT

Mormon: Big Body gives depth inside

Ivory (Talent is off the charts, good basketball IQ) he has been great to coach so far. Ladner did say he has the talent to play professionally. This is his 4th school in as many years, if he continues like he has, he will be a difference maker.

Great group who truly like and playing for each other. They hang out away from basketball. Much different than in years past.
(CULTURE IS DIFFERENT)

Ladner is very encouraged about scrimmage.

Remember, this is an intersquad scrimmage so scoring for some will be high and not likely what they will be throughout the season. Still, it shows there are some guys who can put the ball in the basket.

Big plays give Southern Miss a big win over Louisiana

Southern Miss rose to the occasion in front of a national audience as they defeated Louisiana 39-24.
