SB on Roberts

If I heard right, SB said that Roberts was on a very strict pitch count of 25. He is coming off of Tommy John surgery and has a schedule they are following. Last night he was allowed 25 and was going to throw that many regardless of outcome. They think he can be a difference maker at tourney time and are working hard to get him ready.

My observation: nasty stuff, hit 93 on one throw, great movement on ball, wild (hopefully from not pitching for a year).

My hope: surgery successful and this kid develops into a weekend starter next year. Certainly looks like he has the potential to dominate. Might be another closer for us this year at turny time.

Southern Miss in the mix for Abram

Southern Miss under first year head coach Jay Hopson look committed to recruiting the best athletes available to Hattiesburg. It comes as no surprise that Jones Junior College (Ellisville, MS) safety Johnathan Abram is on their radar.

Abram transferred to Jones from Georgia over the Christmas break and looks to be looking for a fresh start after starting four games for the Bulldogs in 2015 and playing in seven contests.

Just an early morning primer for the Yuggge Show we have planned for today. First up Tim and Lanny discuss Southern Miss' mid-week win over Louisiana-Lafayette on Tuesday night and talk about MSU's win over Ole Miss in Jackson. They'll look ahead to this weekend for the Big 3 before getting down to football at the bottom of the hour. At the Bottom of the hour they'll be joined by veteran NFL Draft Analyst Mike Detillier who'll talk about Mississippi prospects in the Draft. At 5:45 we'll be joined by Southern Miss head football coach Jay Hopson who'll recap the Black & Gold Spring Game. Listen live at 98.1 FM, wmxi.com or the WMXI Mobile App.

Thoughts Sring game

thought the Play of the Oline was very poor. More concerning is this was against a Smallish Dline. Other than early in the first quarter there were no running lanes and the QB had little time to sit in the pocket. The Oline is easily my biggest concern for the Fall. The play of the Oline today completely shut down the offense today. Just don't see the O being near what we rolled out last season. Hopefully the defense will keep us in games. See 6-7 win next season. Must get our numbers up on Oline. Also think coach Meadows was a big time Oline coach. He was a coach I feel we should have kept.

This may have been the best Eaglesfest weekend

This may have just been the best overall Eaglefest weekend for our Spring football game and great CUSA baseball series with Rice and great weather! Kudos to our athletic department, our Southern Miss baseball team, and Southern Miss football team and USM fans of all ages for making this a special weekend!
