If you are going to use Cockrell at all, I think you go ahead and start him vs FSU tomorrow. If you can get 3 or more innings, you are ahead of the game. If you have to go to the pen early, you have Winston, Johnson, and Sandlin rested and ready. Got to sell out for the win tomorrow.

If Cockrell can not go, Powell, Roberts, or Winston and I would lean Winston.

The ongoing tour of Southern Miss coaches (except baseball) is starting out to be very successful, informative and very entertaining. We had a standing room only crowd at the large Poppa's restaurant meeting room in Brookhaven Tuesday at noon and all had a great time. The A.D., coaches and staff were milling around before the meeting started, introducing themselves and talking Southern Miss with great enthusiasm. My thinking now is that golf, softball, tennis and girls basketball deserve my support along with our "major" sports. Don't miss this tour when it comes to your area. It really is "Southern Miss to the top".

I finally got to talk with Gunkel last night. He was hit head-on by a drunk drunk driver on May 6th.

He has been in ICU in Tuscaloosa until Wed when he was moved to a regular room.

He thanked The Big Gold Nation for all your thoughts, prayers and well wishes.

He hopes to be moved to a rehab facility in Gulfport next week.

Random question; do we wear the throwback look uniforms each time McCarty pitches? If so, keep it up because it's working.
