D1 Digest: How Saturday’s action impacted postseason picture
Sun Belt
–
Louisiana and
Southern Miss finished strong, as the Cajuns won their finale against
South Alabama13-3 and the Golden Eagles topped
Texas State 5-3. Both teams are locks for at-large bids with RPIs in the mid-30s, occupying the top two spots in the Sun Belt standings.
–
James Madison and
Troy split a Saturday doubleheader, giving the Dukes the series win on the road. JMU is now clearly ahead of Troy in the pecking order, as the Dukes are No. 45 in the RPI while the Trojans are No. 53, and the Dukes have the head-to-head series win on the road, which offsets Troy’s one-game edge in the standings (18-12 vs. 17-13). The Trojans are in a precarious spot with that RPI coupled with a poor finish to the regular season; they need to win some games in the conference tournament.

Coastal Carolina did what it needed to do this weekend, completing a road sweep of
Marshall with a 9-5 win Saturday. The Chanticleers are still just seventh in the standings, but they are a good bet for an at-large bid with a No. 35 RPI and a 16-14 SBC record.
