I know it was out earlier today that Trivensky Mosley withdrew his name from the portal and is supposedly coming back. That is not true. I got confirmation he will not be back on the team.

This week on Inside Southern Miss Athletics John Cox, the Voice of the Golden Eagles, talks with Director of Athletics Jeremy McClain on new NCAA legislation effecting student-athletes; Head Men’s Basketball coach Jay Ladner provides details about his team and the upcoming season; and Men’s Golf Coach Eddie Brescher discusses what he is looking forward to this fall from the Golden Eagles.

I noticed in March and April we picked up 5 commitments that have 3 stars but since then we have picked up none. I am wondering if some of these 2-star players will move up to 3-stars or since they have committed to USM will they remain where they are according to Rivals. I remember when a 4-star recruit for OM de-committed and went to Memphis and was demoted to a 3-star.

I’m not big on Mississippi State sports at all, but as a journalist, I found the Clarion Ledger’s apology on Twitter regarding its Mississippi State CWS Championship special section to be hilarious. For those who didn’t see it. The CL had to apologize because it printed the special section with the intention that it would be included in the Sunday edition, but then forgot to actually insert the special section into the paper so it never ended up going out today.

The MS Braves will have Southern Miss night at Trustmark Park in Pearl this Thursday night. Wear your Southern Miss gear and get a field level ticket for $5.00. Game time is 6:30.

For anyone interested, I've convinced a seller on eBay who creates his own custom football cards to create past and present USM football player cards. They're listed now. They include L. Lipps, N. Mullens, Tim Jones, R. Guy, Michael Jackson, Ito Smith, Pinkston, Favre, Reggie Collier, Tarvarius Moore, Quez Watkins, Michael Boley, Jalen Richard, Mike Thomas, Damion Fletcher, P. Surtain, Khyri Thornton, Austin Davis, Adalius Thomas, Jamie Collins, Rakeem Nunez-Roches, and Jack Abraham. Just do a search for "southern miss custom" and they'll all pop up. Novelty items at best, but these are all cards with the players in their college uniforms. Disclaimer: I don't receive any proceeds from these...just thought it'd be cool if he made them. He starts off the bids at$14.99/ea, but I've counter-offered for less and he's accepted.

One thing is for sure, 2022 Southern Miss commit Ilias Fauvai is excited to become a Golden Eagle.

Now that some are getting money and some big bucks, the kids are no longer amateurs in the sports and surely the IRS will come calling, right.

It has never happened in any sport until today... don't let OM fans fool you... Vaught never won a natty in football.

Which game and date has yet to be announced. Should be fun to see those guys again. Even Fedora is supposed to show up.

What events were the favorites you attended in each of these three sports—football, men’s basketball and baseball. Mine are these:

Football—The victory over Alabama in Bear’s last year that broke the Tide’s years long home winning streak;

Basketball—The NIT championship semifinal and championship games; and

Baseball—0maha, just because we were there and the overall experience though we didn’t win a game.

A fun side note on the Alabama game: My daughter was wearing an Eagle head for which we had paid a $1 and which you may have seen my wife wearing as recently as the last season or two. After the game, an Alabama fan came up to my daughter (who was seven at the time) and offered her $100 for the hat. She said, “Why do you want it?” He replied, “I want to smash it.” She said, “No way I’m selling it to you.”
