Update of the 6 scholarships left to fill.....

I have confirmed that of the 6, the want to add at least 2 DL and 1 OL to this class. They are looking for a transfer QB but he must be a perfect fit for them. They will not add a QB just for the sake of adding one. If they can get 3 DL and 3 OL then they would if they do not find a QB or others that they believe is a fit.

Just wanted to update you all.....

Newton Mealer hired as head basketball coach at Jones County JC.......

I can still remember the crowds in Reed Green Coliseum chanting everytime he entered the game.

This college football article should upset the average Southern Miss fan...

This paragraph is towards the end of the article;

"With the transfer portal, academically-strong players who have used junior colleges as a platform to showcase their skills could now do the same for higher four-year schools.

If a kid wants to go to Ole Miss, why go to East Mississippi Community College to prove football acumen when he could go to Southern Miss? Why go to Navarro when he could go to North Texas? "

Thoughts on our signees?

When we look back on this past season, what stands out as the cause for our lack of success? I would venture to say it was serious QB issues and a sub-par OL. So, what was accomplished yesterday to remedy the situation? IMO, very little if anything. True we signed some good football players and the team will be better off but are they what we are desperate to have for a remedy? We signed a promising QB but he is a Freshman. Our stable is filled with inexperienced QBs and the need is for experience in that position. The OL has some experience but lacks talent. WH says he may add another QB in the next round but has said little about the OL. I am hoping things work out.
