Is it just me or is....

...Nick Mullens slow....like real slow....slower than slow. Seriously though, he's had a GREAT year. Hard to be upset with his play overall. I do think however the numbers he's put up are partly a result of the system. Today he struggled. I do hope that they allow real competition for the QB spot next year and don't just default in to Nick. If Nick had the legs to extend plays or be a real threat to run I think we'd won several more this year.

A few observations from today's butt whipping:

The best team won so we must give them credit. They have played well all year and could beat any team on our schedule. Having said this, they were not "all that", and we made too many mistakes.
Nick will own every record in the books way before he is finished here, but he is only maybe the fourth best QB at USM I have seen. I like him alot, but I rank him behind, Reggie, Brett, and Austin. But those 3 are really, really, good. He threw it horribly today. He was wild all day but.....
The line played as poorly as they have all year, especially at guard. I am disappointed and surprised, at least 3 of the sacks were on bull rushes without them blitzing. Some of our linemen just got whipped most all day.
The personal foul against Thompson was inexplicable. Monken needs to address this with him very directly.
Our injury riddled defense played about as well as they could I thought. The biggest problem with our defense was our offense. But the 19 play drive was killer, and changed the complexion of the game.
Mike Thomas is not only good, he is tough.
Next years team will be much better, and if these JUCO receivers pan out we could finish 11-1. The table is set for a big year anyway, and a special year if we find another player or two.
I hate to lose, but reflecting on the entire season, I am thrilled to be 9-4 and headed to any bowl. And unlike many fans, after the past 3 seasons, the New Orleans Bowl is no shame at all. Having said that, I am hoping for Dallas versus Washington.

Dirtiest team in the country

I'm ok losing when I get beat by a better team. But when you play dirty and are apparently out to hurt players the other team I've got 0 respect for WKU. They are dirty and take cheap shots and with the refs in their pocket they have taken full advantage of it.
Their fans are just as bad for booing when we get a player injured because of their teams dirty play.
I just hope we have them on the schedule next year and that Monken hangs 70 plus on their ass. Even better to have them at the Rock and do it.

Proud of this team..

We're still playing for a 10 win season. I hate we lost this game. The turnovers were very uncharacteristic and officiating was as bad as Ive seen all year.

The injuries on defense was ridiculously. I don't think we were faking it but I have never in my life seen so many injuries in a half like I saw in the second half of today's game.

Oh well its time to turn our eyes to the bowl game. Get this 10th win and head into the off- season with some momentum

serious discussion...for all, but especially those in the know

  1. what would it take to get our HC pay up to $1 million to $1.5 million (other than $200K - $800) are there any big donors? capital campaign requirements, etc
  2. would this be a better investment than funding the Green House expansion, Indoor Practice facility, Athletic Cafeteria, fully funding schollies through the EC, etc?
like i said, i'm more interested in this being informative...letting us know what we'd need...requirements...how much each of us would have to pony up.
