Did anyone else think it was odd that Coastal Carolina moved game postponed Thursday to a Saturday DH?

This time of year it makes sense to rest the pitching staff as much as possible before the conference tournament. Now Coastal Carolina has a doubleheader on the Saturday before the tournament when they could have played the DH on Friday.

After Louisiana Lafayette won the Friday night game Danny Lynch wins the Saturday game...

Berry Announcement

The timing was weird to me. We had started playing really well with a nice win streak. Why announce such a big thing at this time?

This could completely derail the season. Couldn’t he have waited until after?

He’s done a great job and deserves accolades. Just hope the team doesn’t flounder down the stretch or there’ll be many what ifs…..at least for me

Friday Postseason Buzz: Mini Stock Report

Coastal Carolina won its series opener against Marshall, 9-3, moving the Chanticleers a half-game ahead of Southern Miss (which lost Friday) atop the Sun Belt standings. At No. 12 in the RPI, CCU still has a shot at a top-eight seed if it can win the Sun Belt regular-season title, making the Saturday’s doubleheader against Marshall very important. Even if USM nips CCU to take the Sun Belt crown, the Chants are in good shape to host.

But Southern Miss needs to win its Saturday rubber game against Louisiana and hope Coastal gets swept by Marshall in order to claim the regular-season title, as CCU owns the head-to-head tie-breaker. At No. 29 in the RPI, USM’s hosting hopes are looking remote, and the regular-season Sun Belt title felt like a big piece of the puzzle for the Golden Eagles.

The Golden Eagles improved to 21-7 in the Sun Belt with a 4-0 win over Louisiana. Tanner Hall tossed an absolute gem, striking out 12, walking one and allowing three hits in eight shutout innings. Matthew Etzel also had a big night with two hits and four RBIs. With the win, the Golden Eagles continue to make progress in the RPI and are moving even closer to strong hosting contention.

If that was his last start at The Pete, Tanner Hall was at his best...

He goes 8 innings, allowing only 3 hits, and struck out 12, while walking 1 on a borderline ball/strike call. He is now 11-3, with a 2.45 ERA. He won the Ferriss Award last season and he probably sewed it up again with that performance. Hopefully, it won't be his last start at The Pete.
