Southern Miss did good today

We had an event to honor academic scholarships.

We had multiple students with schollies, but 5 had big money.

One was a Southern Miss commitment.

But, of all of the schools represented (over 10) only one sent a mascot.

They all brought "swag" but one tool that up a notch.

And one really had a serious impact.

While the biggest scholarship was to the Airforce academy, Southern Miss was better represented than any other.

And seriously, Seymour was a hit.

Not sports related, but good stuff building up the school.

On Radio this morning apparently the Big Trust fund five

are rattling their swords about leaving the NCAA again and negotiating their own football deal. Questions that would have to be for all sports right not just football? Would all members be accepted just because or would these greedy schools leave the Vandy's, MSU, Ole Miss, Kansas of the world behind. I don't know how it would work with all sports but if its football only why would you take Kansas or Indiana or even Kentucky Great in Basketball but football not. It sounds like a big ole mess to me. They would have to have an administrating body. Maybe they stay in the NCAA and just sell their football games or just move up a division. When and if we look up ten years from now and nobody is watching college football you can thank the greed of these schools.

Old Mess NCAA investigation...

The Old Mess NCAA investigation is looking very serious. Alabama and T A&M coaches have said that the death penalty is warranted and other sources have said it is on the table. It involves not only football but other programs too. Includes drugs, money, strippers for underage prospects, and loss of institutional control. Can't imagine the death penalty, but looks serious anyway, especially with Alabama upset.

When did All-Access become College Sports Live?

I got this email from College Sports Live about my subscription ending and did not remember having a subscription to College Sports Live. I thought it was unwanted spam at first. After checking out the FAQs I found this "All Access and ULive have been discontinued. Instead, College Sports Live offers you an unprecedented value with unlimited access to all content within our network of schools with a single subscription."
Maybe I have not been paying close enough attention but this is new to me. Hopefully it will be better than All-Access.

Tim Floyd, what a guy

Give UTEP coach Tim Floyd this: He found himself a sure-fire way to land a national college basketball headline in the middle of May.

Floyd held something of a seemingly random offseason press conference on Tuesday. After watching the video above, you'll see it wasn't so random, though. Floyd's motive for the presser is clear. The six-year UTEP coach is unhappy with some local media coverage of the team, and in particular, after watching the video, it's obvious Floyd wanted a public forum to argue with a specific member of the local media. The target is a radio host named Steve Kaplowitz. Over the course of nearly 30 minutes, Floyd took aim at Kaplowitz, calling him "irresponsible" a number of times.

Wow! Memphis and the Big 12......

Memphis is a serious player in the expansion game with the Big 12.

UM President (Dunn) has pledged $500,000,000 to the Academic and Athletic 'Infrastructure' to Commissioner Gee of the Big 12 Conference.

$500,000,000 dollars! INSANITY!!!!

He has the full backing of Fred Smith, CEO and Chairman of FEDEX.

They (Memphis) are whores, but, they are Rich whores.

Zero tradition in football with NO games played on their 'Storied' Campus.

Blows my mind what is going on with College Football. IE
