Top 5 "What If" moments: "What If" there was no rain during 2017 regional.

There is no question that is Southern Miss would have taken care of business in the first NCAA Regional Championship Game vs. Mississippi State then none of the insanity that took place in game number two would haave happened. In a game that had to be pushed back because of rain, the Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead in game 1 only to see the Bulldogs score 8 unanswered and win 8-1. Even with the loss the Eagles still had Kirk McCarty and Nick Sandlin available to throw in game 2 and Mississippi State was really at the bottom of the barrel, pitching wise. What happened in game 2 still makes Golden Eagle fans sick to this day.

Top 5 "What If" moments: #4 What if M.K. Turk was never hired?

The early to mid 1980's was a great time in Southern Miss sports. Both football and basketball had 2 young, up-and coming coaches with Bobby Collins and M.K. Turk. Yes, football had some great years, nearly going undefeated in 1981 and garnering a top 10 ranking, but it was basketball and the success that it was having that really did more for the university than football. in 1983 Southern Miss got an nite and became part of the Metro Conference in every sport but football (conference was not a football conference). Without Coach Turk, this would have never happened.

JUCO Forward Jermaine Marshall talks Southern Miss recruitment

Jermaine Marshall is a 6'6 210 lbs Forward out of Florida Southwestern State College (JUCO). Marshall is someone who can come in and compete for playing time immediately. A high energy player who does a fantastic job orf rebounding and playing defense. With Jacdomi and Harper-Baker both graduating, this will leave a void to be filled by Jay Ladner and staff. Newly hired Southern Miss offensive coordinator Matt Kubik recently sat down with Rivals to discuss his thoughts on the Black and Gold thus far. The former Louisiana Tech quarterback has replaced Buster Faulkner, who took an offensive analyst position at Georgia after just one season. Kubik led a ULM offense that executed at the level of some elite company averaging over 250 passing yards and 200 yards on the ground respectively during the 2019 season.
