Supporting Information for Hitter of the Week Nominee: Charlie Fischer led the Golden Eagles over the weekend in a series win over Rice in Houston. He reached base in all four games, walking in the first game. He finished with two walks over the weekend and now has 34 walks which is among the nation’s leaders. He then registered multiple-hit games in the final three contests of the Rice series as he finished with a 8x15 week for a .533 batting average. He collected two hits with a double and three RBI against the Owls in the second game of the twinbill. He added a 2x5 game three with two doubles and two RBI while finishing the weekend with a 4x5 day – his season high for hits - to finish the week with a .533 batting average (8x15, 5 doubles, 7 RBI). Fischer leads the team in batting average with a .358 average with 11 doubles, six homers and 30 RBI. His seven RBI accounted for almost a fourth of the runs scored over the weekend by the Golden Eagles, who tallied 30 in the series.

Supporting Information for Pitcher of the Week Nominee: Ben Ethridge, the reigning C-USA Pitcher of the Week, posted his second consecutive seven-inning shutout performance, tying his season career-high longest outing. He limited Rice to just four hits, hit a batter and two walks, while fanning seven. Ethridge has not allowed a run over his last two starts spanning 14 innings while recording 18 strikeouts over that time. He did not allow a base runner past second base and he has won his last four outings. In his 10 starts this season, Ethridge has pitched at least six innings on six different occasions. The Golden Eagles went on to win the contest 10-1.
Notes
* After getting shut out in the opening game of the Rice series, the Golden Eagles outscored the Owls 30-3 over the final three contests, winning their fifth series in 15 tries over Rice, including their third at Reckling Park and first there since 2017. Southern Miss has now won five of the last six games over Rice.
* The Golden Eagles registered back-to-back double-digit run outings for the second time this season as the put together 10-plus runs for the eighth and ninth time this season.
* Southern Miss is one win shy of recording their 19-straight 30-or-more win season, which ranked sixth-best at the start of the 2021 season.
* While Charlie Fischer recorded his first four-hit game of the season, Danny Lynch also tallied his second four-hit game, while Blake Johnson added his second-three hit game as well versus the Owls.
* Southern Miss improved to 22-4 when they score first in a game this season and are 309-76-1 under Scott Berry when they do that.
