Sorry, but I have a terrible feeling.

I do not think we are going to have much luck picking up the cream of the crop from Marshall. I have heard Marshall's OC and DC are staying there. I would think those two played a large part in their success. The key factor will be who has the most sway: Huff or them? Marshall's plan all along was to oust Huff but keep the two mentioned above. If that is true, their best players would most likely tend to stay put or transfer to more extensive programs for more money. The players may not care much for Huff, but they like the OC and DC. The key players may ask themselves, why would I transfer to a program that has only won one game? This is why I posted, "We don't get fooled again." Only time will tell.

Huff,

If he is indeed to be the new coach, It is a big mistake. First another week waiting on the conference title game and then another week or more depending on which bowl they go to. By then the portal has opened, and our players that are going to go to the portal will not wait that long for a coach to show up and it is too late for them. Second signing date for High school players will have started and none are going to wait for him to talk to them and tell them what they want to hear. If it is him, he needs to come now or we SHOULD move one. I can't believe that Marshall wants a lame duck coach. We all know a new coach needs to be here as soon as possible to recruit new players and retain the players he wants to keep. What about assembling a staff, can't do that while coaching your current team. And the biggest question, what if he changes his mind and Marshall gives him what he wants. It has happened and we don't have the best of luck. Our AD is putting us in the hole and if this goes down like this he should be fired.

Some info and link to join the TTT Collective from Peter Boehme

To help clear up any confusion about the collective and how things work, Peter wanted this shared with members of BGN:

To upgrade your membership, you can login to the portal linked below. Please watch the video/refer to the photo and follow the instructions on how to upgrade. If you need assistance with your password, please reach out to info@tothetopcollective.com and I can reset your password for you. If you would like me to upgrade your membership for you, please send me your current tier and the desired upgraded tier and I can do this for you.

Also worth noting for the message board: since the news broke on Sunday we have gained 15 new members/donors to the collective with the annualized dollar amount coming to $12,800. I have been able to secure a donor that will match this number up to $50,000 and I am working on another one for another $50,000 match. If we can continue to grow our memberships with people monthly memberships we will be able to capitalize on our bigger donors allowing us to spend money quickly in the portal. The bigger donors want to be reassured that everyone is supporting as well. We have $37,200 left to cover to achieve the 50k. This amounts to 20 VIP Members at $1800 annually, 75 new hall of fame members at $500 annually or 186 Seymour members at $200 annually. If we can get to 50k before the end of January through memberships it will turn into 150k real quick.

Thanks for your help!

"We don't get fooled again."

I take this title from "The Who" because I have a few concerns. He undoubtedly has a wide range of team experience because he has been with every school in the nation except Slippery Rock. That is a good thing. I have read that he is good at obtaining portal players and recruiting in general. Success at USM will depend on this ability. He will need the help of good assistant coaches and coordinators. We have lacked that asset for a long time, at least since Armstrong. Success will depend on his ability to cherry-pick Marshall's best Offensive linemen and their QB. Fortunately, or unfortunately, we don't have but a few players that will be missed. We should retain Chris Jones, Jalen Washington, Reed Jesiolowski, Will James, Elijah Sabbatini, Kenyon Clay, John White, and Chris Hayes.

I believe hiring Huff may be the missing piece of the puzzle for improvement. How much improvement will depend on the abovementioned and the amount of money USM fans denote to the Collective. Once I see the future roster, I will comment on next year's win/loss record. One thing is for sure: I will not be fooled again.

Marshall wasted no time in announcing their new coach...

Why did Coach Hall not win here?

If you learn more in failure than sucess then our athletic department should be getting wise at what to look for in a football coach. I'm interested to hear people's opinion on why Hall did not win here. On paper he looked like a good candidate; top 25 D1 offense at Tulane, Good head coaching experience from his time in DII, recruiting contacts through all the HS connections through his dad, etc. Why did he fail here?
