We get bases loaded, no outs and score nothing. Runner on first and third, one out. We hit into a double play. It happens every game. Why is this? I can understand thats baseball, but it happens evrey game.

This is an eye-opening stat. When USM went to the CWS they may have had 3 or 4 guys who could touch 90 plus on the radar gun. This squad has 12 pitchers on staff that can throw 90 plus. That is how much the game has changed and how arms are better today than ever before. Astonishing stat....

It will be the 1st of 4 games over the weekend vs Alcorn State and Evansville University.

1. It is good that USM wom the series. However, there still much the Eagles need to fix.
2. No errors was good to see. Defense was much better.
3. Situational hitting is still bad. You have to know when to take pitches amd when toseing when you have bases loaded or a runner at 3rd with less than 2 outs. The Eagles hit into 3 double ays Sunday when they had chances to score.
4. Pitching was good enough to win every game. They need help from the offense, not every game is a shutout.

There is not a single category where the Southern Miss stats are better than the opponent's combined stats. The obvious #1 stat is scoring, opponents have scored more in total, but opponents have also outrebounded Southern Miss, had fewer turnovers, and shot field goals, 3-point shots, free throws at a better percentage than Southern Miss while shooting more of them to begin with.

Well, Eagles are shorthanded again....

Georgia State played its last game at its long time arena on Friday night. It’s been in use for nearly 50 years. They will begin playing their games in a new 7,500-seat Convocation Center from now on. It’ll be a big upgrade in basketball facilities for them. It’s by the old Turner Field (where the Braves used to play) that is now Georgia State’s football stadium. Here is a rendering that shows what the Convocation Center will look like from the inside.

Was nice to see. LOB is still too high, I imagine Coach Berry will be discussing the issue. Pitching was solid again. Nice...

Not much to say about this one, it is pretty obvious.

Errors will get you beat. Good teams will take advantage, while teams like UNA will not. That is 11 errors in 4 games and if I were the scorer it would be more.

Pitching was not the issue in this loss. They got little to no help from the defense.

Wilks has to make that catch it RF. He got a bad break on the ball, but that is a play the RF at this level should make.

Good and crafty LHP has always given USM issues and the USA starter was very effective at getting ahead in counts.

Fischer has disappeared at the plate. That Oxford regional did something to him. Time to sit him and give someone else a shot.

Friday is a new series. A lot to correct before then. USA is not a good team, but they don't beat themselves either.

There are just really 3 things I would like tosee this series....

1. Perhaps take Wilks out of RF and move him to to DH and sit Fischer and let him sit to clear his head and restart the season.

2. Defense has got to improve. Need to cut down on errors.

3. Situational hitting must improve.

Well, Tyler (hip injury), Jaron (Hip Injury), and Mo Arnold (finger injury), are all out for tonight.

Was told it is much bigger than what is at The Rock. I was also told that it would be as wide as current scoreboard that is in use at PTP. This thing will be much bigger than the one at LA Tech at their new park. With the umps we have seen in the past few seasons, we will finally get to see how many calls are botched.

Jeremiah Robinson and Dee Baker switched to Safety. Baker has been with track team this Spring.
