NEW ORLEANS – Dustin Dickerson , Danny Lynch and Gabe Montenegro each drove in a pair of runs to lead No. 6 Southern Miss to an 11-5 non-conference baseball ...
1. Games, like this and today are trap games. Leadership is what gets teams to play at such a high level and find ways to win. This team has a no quit mentality and that comes from leadership.
2. Sweeping Tulane feels good. Both good RPI wins. Eagles are now at #11 in RPI according to Warren Nolan.
3. This team has the ability to answer when their opponents show signs of life. Great teams kill momentum and any hope an opponent has.
4. Eagles have won 11 straight road games and 10 games in a row. Impressive!!
5. Ethridge was able to pitch around trouble. His progression will be a key factor for USM down the stretch.
6. It will be nice for the guys to have some games back at The Pete.
RPI, was at #9 before weekend sweep at FIU, now after 3 wins #13.
It is great to be ranked in polls, but I will say it again, RPI is what matters and the confrence is doing nothing to help there. Eagles must win midweek games going forward.
Southern Miss athletics getting a 30 million dollar check from major capital campaign...
"The athletic department will also receive $30 million from the recent $150 million fundraising goal campaign, which currently sits at over $109 million."
This is huge. This capital campaign has been going on for a few years now. Covid delayed some things. The AD will releasing a big short/long multi point athletics investment plan in the coming weeks. In this plan is supposedly a new IPF, renovations to our bball arena, some other upgrades to other athletics facilities.
From this 30 mill, I expect we'll prob spend 10-15 mill on an IPF and another 15-20 million on RGC renovations/soccer field lights. There's also a good bit of money the University has set aside/saved from a city 1-cent tax increase implemented about 3 years ago just for USM athletics that the citizens of Hattiesburg voted for. Exciting times for Southern Miss. Stay tuned!
HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss women's basketball announced the signing of a pair of transfers in Femi Funeus and Lani Cornfield. Head coach Joye Lee-McN...
...had a do over if he would chose going back to LSU? They got a late portal transfer from Arizona St. that most pundits think will be the eventual starter. If Brennan sits the bench, it would be a heck of a waste. There are many places he would start and be a major contributor.
Over time we have not done very well when playing in Miami. Today's game was a prime example of that. However, the end result is a series sweep which is very important this time of year as we near the end of the season. We need to play our very best to set the table for us in the post season. Every game is important. Getting sweeps instead of series wins will make a huge difference for us.
