Thoughts on Rice Game

Just got in from the game. Props to Rice. They are a better team than their record shows. It went just as I thought. Rice came in with a creative game plan. USM had to call two timeouts because they couldn't line up right. The head coach spoke about it in the post game show. He said that Rice brought a wildcat formation plan that the Eagle defense wasn't prepared for. I've been watching this series with Rice for 10 years or so and they always seem to do that.

USM had a record night of over like 500 yards of passing. Had it not been for that, Ricr might have won. They shut down Ito. HC Hopson said Rice made USM through the ball over their head and shut down the run. Fortunately we had a steller night in our receiver Staggers. He broke I think the longest touchdown reception in USM history. USM kneeled the ball on the 3 yard line. They had respect for Rice and wouldn't try to score again. Nice crowd of about 29,000 I think (heard on radio show).

Got an 11:00 am start time game next week with UTSA. Better ready up!

Crowd was lame IMO. East upper deck was bare. I guess the beautiful weather kept people away.

Last year they practically gave tickets away with all the special promotions after the State game. Seems like this season they're doing less of that so the tickets they are selling are at full price. I walked around at halftime and there were thousands of people tailgating that had no intention of going inside.

Totally agree. I saw that too. I heard one group ask another group, "Are y'all going inside?" Their intention was to just stay outside and watch another game on their portable tv's snd just listen to the USM game. But you can't make them come in so I guess at least they are there.

I have been noticing those groups staying outside too. They need to be in the stadium making noise and rewarding the players for putting in all the hard work to represent their university.

The team doesn't seem to be getting any better. It looks like they have a ton of potential, but they can't seem to put it together yet. Still hoping we get Draper Riley back for the LSU game. We have some serious issues in the middle of the D and he is the only big DT on the roster.

I hope he is back. Bradley has been playing solid on the D line.
