Here's a few notes from today's spring practice, will have full interviews up with Todd Monken, Devin Farrior and Mick Mullens up later.

- Both Nick Mullens and Tyler Matthews had solid showings today. Southern Miss will have a lot more depth this year than the past two. Mullens and Matthews are very different types of QB, but both can be very effective in their own way.

- The WR corp looks very good, DJ Thompson made some really nice plays. Kyle Foster and Mike Thomas also looked really good at different points during the session.

- Julian Allen has not been cleared to practice while recovering from an injury he sustained in JUCO this past year, but Taylor Marini showed exactly why he was a top rated JUCO TE. He's going to really help Southern Miss this coming year and when he and Allen are both on the same page they'll be a big one-two punch for the Eagles.

- Interestingly Andrew Peterson was not at practice, and Monk had no idea where he was. Said that they were expecting him to be there, that they needed him to be there and that he hoped he was ok.

- Offensive line depth looks like it's going to be much better going to be some really good competition at a few positions, mainly the ones we talked about in Five Storylines.

- D'Narius Antoine was working with the 1st Team line-backers today along with Brian Anderson and Eli Parker.

- One of the biggest changes was that of attitude, especially during warm-ups. Zac Woodfin is a huge energy guy, he had the team worked up and into from start to finish. This guy will be a huge pay-off for Southern Miss.

Back later with more.
