I know it's too easy to judge with the benefit of hindsight....but a field goal would have forced LaTech to make 2 touchdowns plus another score to tie or pull ahead of us. I do feel good about the way we're playing, but it would be nice to have that extra cushion.
So was that the right move?

I don't understand it. 3 points in that context would have been huge. Instead, they get a momentum boost and the ball. Our defense is beat up and 3 points could mean the difference. We need the D to play big in the first few minutes of the second half.
Monken just came in with the balls to the wall attitude. When they were driving to cut it to one TD on third quarter < I said Uh oh. But I think Monken had already decided to go for everything with the onside kick etc. Just say a message to the team. Credit to the team for not rolling over when it blew up.
I am glad to be wrong. I have been wrong a lot. I predicted 7-5 this year, and thought I might be overly optimistic. I am amazed and excited about the future. I am guessing Monken stays on for a fourth year, and the 2016 Eagles go 11-1.
We were on the one-yard line. I didn't have a problem going for it, but he should've run the ball behind that big OL.
I mean if the O Line does their job and gives Mullens time, we probably get a TD. I don't have a problem going for it. You're competing to go to the Championship. You've got plays just for this situation.
I'm happy with the win. It was big and the play calling for the most part was really, really good! I STILL think the call should have been to kick the FG and go up by 3 scores. There was only 2 seconds left. We took a shot at the TD on the play before and missed it. Now, score again and keep the momentum going into half.
That defensive stop by La Tech, gave them some energy going into the locker room.
Now, had we scored the TD, it would have really deflated La Tech and I get that. But you're on the road, you're already up on the score board....I kick the ball. That's me. Clearly, Coach Monken wanted to make a statement at the end of the half. It didn't work out. That's ok. We kicked their ass and the point is moot now.

I would have liked to have gotten the 3 points there but that kick has not been automatic for USM this year. I was grateful when we made the first one.
