Hey guys, I love USM athletics. I hold season tickets every year. I understand criticisms that come my way. I continued to buy tickets even when USM lost all their games and am still a season ticket holder today with my family. But I've had enough. I am going to take a short break from the board. At least this season is over soon. We might make a bowl game but I don't know who we will beat for that sixth win. Either way New Orleans bowl is in our future...possibly. Nothing would make me happier than to win out but this team just doesn't have it. I honestly don't think Coach Hopson wants to be here. That's just my opinion. I do remember hearing he and McGillis both admit that Hopson had to make a decision at the last minute as to whether he was going to take the job or not. Hop was hesitant. I don't think he likes it here. The team is getting outplayed. I want to change my mind but I am just tired of helping other "up and coming" schools find success. USM got left behind and that's that. Best of luck to you all, I hope the team does make a bowl but we may finish 5-7. I plan to be back on soon but I am checking out for the rest of the football season. SMTTT

Yup, tis' very discouraging to say the least. I don't blame you. After all we have been through I feel pretty bleached out myself. We know you are a fan, Seth, and that you love Southern Miss.

If they had hired Bower as HC and Brett as OC when I said we should have, we might be playing for some serious championships in a much better conference. But you can't tell these peckerwoods anything.

However, this time I can't even say they got what they deserve. (((I don't think, but maybe)))

See ya' soon my brother.

Hopson wants to be here. Its his dream job. I think he expected more money than we could pay him (due to our financial hardships) and he was in way over his head with his assistant coaching hires. He is also in over his head with recruiting, making comments that he has to see what CUSA teams have to offer for him to know what type of players to recruit against. He just isn't prepared to be a head coach in FBS, and none of his assistants are for sure. Thing is, even if they left on their own, we can't afford to hire better.

If Monken returned, this team wins CUSA, and probably 10 games this year. As it is now, we finish 5-6 with no bowl.

He should have left the staff he inherited in tact for this season. They knew the players and a system that worked was already in place. They already had been recruiting guys for 2017 and had built relationships with these kids. Instead, in Feb. lets blow this thing up and hire some Swac guys and some high school guys.

yep. hopson should have kept duggan and most of the d staff for multiple reasons. his OC hire also ruined Mullens. this was a terrible hire. hopson is apparently an idiot.
