I was at the game yesterday. Here are my thoughts:
Coaching-C 3 weeks ago, UTSA woulda blown us out. Billings get credit for shoring up the defense and holding them to 300 total yards
Offense-C- We are still largely one dimensional even with Gore and company. Tate looked good out there, but scoring 20 points usually doesn’t get you a win unless you’re blessed with a top 10 defense. Shoulda scored a touchdown in first quarter in SW corner of end zone.
Defense-B 69 yard TD missed run assignment by d-backers really hurt our win chances. Other than that, guys played a great game.
Special Teams-C+ Poor punting and a missed fake field goal attempt cost this group a higher rating. Boo made both his attempts and coulda made another one to go up 6. Heath made mention it was a bad coaching decision on the fake FG; however, I liked the call we just didn’t have the right personnel in place. I was sitting right on top of the play and I’ll tell you it never had a chance.
