My memory is often in disarray, so I may be incorrect in saying we do not have a consistent winning program now or ever. Probably one of our best teams ever could only win the NIT, the 64th team in the nation. Even with two of the best coaches in history, we have only been to the big dance three or four times. They never progressed past the first round.
We are at a crossroads because we are rebuilding the football program and making significant progress thanks to our AD, who has hired a super head coach. This has taken a lot of money and will present an obstacle to refurbishing basketball. So we must keep the present basketball coach for another year or two. That is not a bad thing since, according to history, we are not going anywhere anyway.
