We will find out a lot about Troy this weekend

The Trojans have been one of the more fascinating teams in college baseball this season. Outside of the Coastal Carolina series, which they won at home, the Trojans have not played a weekend series against a team expected to make the NCAA tournament. That’s not Troy’s fault, but that’s fact. The Trojans are several games out of first place in the league, primarily because they seem immune to winning Sunday games. We will see if that trend continues this weekend against a Southern Miss team that has an RPI of 30 and would love to have at least an outside shot of being a Top 16 seed in the NCAA tournament. The Golden Eagles are led by one of the premier arms in the sport in righthander JB Middleton. Middleton, who is now projected to be chosen in the top two rounds, have been masterful this season. His fastball sits in the mid-90s and the upper-80s power slider and mid-80s changeup have swing and miss rates of 47% and 53%, respectively.
