Bowl Executive Director Brant Ringler:

USM AD Jeremy McClain

USM HC Jay Hopson

Tulane AD Troy Dannon

Tulane HC Willie Fritz

Tulane will be home, Eagles will be visitor

BR:

CUSA was going to be in

MWC was the bid, because of Hawaii getting another bowl, AAC Tulane became available

AFB: Full tribute to every branch of service.

2 regional opponents were really a key to putting this together.

JM:

This bowl checked a lot of boxes.

Geographic

Old Rival

Only college game on Sat Jan 4th

Really excited about bowl being involved heavily in the military

Not a big opportunity to make money, but more for exposure, match-up, TV, extra practice is a better value than the money we make from the bowl

JH:

Old CUSA Rivalry, upmost respect, local game.

Only game on will help recruiting

Late game date is not a big issue

Hattiesburg is a military town and this bowl is great for us.

Tulane AD Troy Dannon:

Everyone if fired up here, we have just signed a 4 year deal with Southern Miss

Tulane has only won 5 bowl games in 126 years, only 2nd time to go back to back, never won back to back bowls

WF:

Great opportunity, I feel like we are actually a better team than last year.

We ant to consistently improve and win back to back bowl games 1st time in history.

IT’s a compliment to out team that other schools are asking about my availabilty, but I have a great job at a great institution at the #1 destination city in the world.

Southern Miss has had success for a long time, don’t know much about them yet, but when I was head coach at Blinn CC, had a lot of kids go there.

An old rival Tulane awaits Southern Miss in the Armed Forces Bowl

Southern Miss and Tulane have a long, storied history of playing each other in all sports. For football the game turned into a rivalry that saw "The Battle For The Bell" become one of the more anticipated games of the season for both fan bases. Southern Miss leads the all time series 23-7 and the last meeting was on October 4, 2009 and saw the Golden Eagles come away with the victory, and the trophy, with a final score of 43-6.

Bowl Match Up Announced

https://www.espn.com/college-football/scoreboard/_/group/12/year/2019/seasontype/3/week/1Not to sound like negative Nancy, but looking at the CUSA match ups..... If we can’t figure out how to beat Tulane (who was a tough out this year), I am not sure CUSA will win a bowl game this year... Maybe FIU can be Ark state. But we have a few games matched up against the AAC... Time for CUSA to show up.
