Ben Higdon did not see any playing time last season. In 2023 at Logan College he appeared in 59 games Batted .459 in 209 at bats with 29 doubles, 2 triples and 21 home runs. Pretty good numbers and fills a need of a power bat in the lineup.

Wallner hits 2 run 481 foot shot

Finished the game 2 for 5 with 2 home runs, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Both home runs were monster shots the second was in the upper deck in right field after the 481 foot homer earlier in the game

There will be a service held at George County High School gym on Sat. June 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. following visitation. He will be laid to rest at Merrill Cemetary following.

As we walked in the final 3 runs into lose the first game of the CWS against #1 seed and eventual runner up Texas longhorns. It was painful to watch to say the least.

On Friday, June 14, 2024, the Hattiesburg Police Department arrested three individuals, charging all three with capital murder in connection to the deadly shooting of 21-year-old Marcus “MJ” Daniels, Jr.

— Orlando May, 18, of Hattiesburg, has been arrested and charged with one (1) count of Capital Murder; one (1) count of Attempted Armed Carjacking; one (1) count of Felony Eluding; and two (2) counts of Grand Larceny Auto.

— Allen Marcus Gardner, 17, of Houston, Texas, has been arrested and charged as an adult with one (1) count of Capital Murder and one (1) count of Attempted Armed Carjacking.

— Samir Green, 16, of Hattiesburg, has been arrested and charged as an adult with one (1) count of Capital Murder and one (1) count of Attempted Armed Carjacking.

All three have been booked into the Forrest County Jail.

As the investigation is ongoing, Hattiesburg Police continue to ask for the public’s help in providing any pertinent information related to the case.

There were some ups and there were some serious downs, tragedy, and through all that there were some who overcame sickness and injury to prevail. We will be doing our BGN Awards soon and look forward to putting those out. We have taken a few weeks off to rest and just step away to refill the energy tanks. Thanks to everyone for the support, conversations, and fun banter on the site. If 2023-2024 was crazy, 2024-2025 should be fun. Landscapes are changing and college sports will never be the same again.

I don't know the details regarding MJ Daniels's death. A life cut short that held such a bright football future. Daniels had a great Spring practice and was destined to be a great safety, one equal to his predecessor, Jay Stanley. He was cited several times for exceptional plays during the practices and was destined for the pros if he desired it. He will be missed by his teammates, his family, his friends, his fans, and the members of this board. Sympathy for his family. May his Soul and all the Souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.

The Atlanta Braves are calling up Hurston Waldrep today after only two starts at AAA.

For any of you have a small a/c window unit I can borrow for a few days that live near Jones County. Our A/C is messing up and it will take a few days to get it fixed. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
