SOUTHERN MISS TO THE TOP!

Quick Favor!

Hey guys!
Sorry for the delay in the Practice Report. It should be in the feeds very shortly. While you wait, would you please fill out this survey for a story I'm writing and share it across Golden Eagle Nation? It'll take just three minutes of your time.

Thank you!
Dima

There are some exciting football matchups this year.

Even a couple of weeks ago, I was willing to bet the house on an upcoming 7-5 season. Now, I have my doubts. Matt Dima has reported that the last two scrimmages have raised questions about pass defense and tackling. We can not have a deficiency in these two areas and expect a 7-5 season. Perhaps there is a quick fix to the problems, but time is running out. If we develop an intense pass rush, it will undoubtedly help.

I will take everything into account and have my final prediction soon.

These are the selections I made a few weeks ago.

Last year FSU was an obvious loss. This year Ky will be our top opponent more favorable for us to win however, LOSS

Last year Alcorn State was our easy win. This year it will be Southeastern LA- WIN

Last year it was a favored Tulane. This year South Florida. LOSS

We didn’t play Jacksonville last year. This is a road game this year that we will lose- LOSS

Last year Arkansas State. This year a win at home. WIN

Last year Texas State a home loss. This year a loss away. LOSS

Last year-Old Dominion was a loss. This year we will take it out on Marshall. WIN

Last year Appalachian State was a loss. This year we will take it out on ULM-WIN

Last year Louisiana was a win. This year it will be another WIN

Last year MSU was a loss. This year the hex will be JM-LOSS

Last year South Al was a loss. This year we will take it out on Troy-WIN

Last year Troy was a loss. This year we will take it out on South Al-WIN

Practice 8/19

Hey everyone!

Today's practice was very short and they just worked mainly special teams with just helmets on. The kickers looked good, and Ti Mims and Dannis Jackson returned kickoffs. They also ran some onside kick plays where they had the hands team in. There wasn't much to write on, so that's why there won't be a report of me just rambling haha.

Two quickies
- Will Hall says he knows who the starting QB is but is not ready to announce it.
- Tomorrow is the final day of fall camp, so look for an extensive review of all of fall camp on the site.

Thanks for reading, and I would love to answer any questions you may have!
Thanks,
Dima

Football article from The Student Printz...

Ranking Jackson State football's games in 2024 by the toughness of the opponents from the CL

I posted this because Jackson State plays ULM and I thought the comments were interesting. I really thought it was interesting that the 5 teams ranked tougher were SWAC teams. Yikes!

6. ULM (Aug. 29)

Bryant Vincent is a first-year coach for Louisiana-Monroe and needs to find a quarterback and several skill position players. The former New Mexico assistant coach will need to be on upset alert. Jackson State goes into Malone Stadium and shocks the Warhawks.

CaptOle had a good question Sunday....

When he asked if there might be a problem with the secondary, the practice report today was even more concerning. It described receivers running wide-open but didn't state the players' names or the defender's particular position. This should not be happening, as last year's lack of coverage was costly. A good number of DBs were recruited, so numbers should not be a problem. I hope this situation is corrected soon.
