Just spoke to Coach Berry....

A few things he mentioned:

He credited the turnaround at the plate to a meeting the hitters had after the second Coastal game. They decided to look amd see what Coastal was doing at the plate. How they extended bats and were able to lay off pitches outside the zone was impressive and they challenged the guys to implement that. It has worked because runs are up and strikeouts are down.

He thought both Billy and Tanner had better days because they kept their pitches down. He was more impressed when Tanner walked those two guys and got out of that inning with three straight outs. He said that is what makes a pitcher elite.

Judging who will start at catcher is based off feel and looking at pitcher splits. They will continue to split time evenly there. He noted how much better Poch has been defensively this season.

Didn't get to chat for long, but just a few things we were able to discuss.

D1 Baseball: D1 Digest: Here’s everything that caught my attention on Friday - Tanner Hall SMTTT!

It’s hard to beat how dominant Tanner Hall was Friday night … There’s no question the Golden Eagles left something to be desired on the mound last weekend against Coastal Carolina. Well, righthanded pitcher Tanner Hall made sure to set the tone in a 12-1 win over Arkansas State. Hall struck out a whopping 15 batters and allowed just three hits and a run in seven innings of work. That’s one way to respond from a rough showing on the bump.

Enlightening y'all with poetry...

In Hattiesburg town, where the eagles soar high,
Lies a team that's fierce, with a glint in their eye.
The Southern Miss Golden Eagles, proud and true,
Jockco's predictions say they'll come through.

With Eagle 70 whiskey in hand, they take the field,
Determined to win, unwilling to yield.
They play for their fans, for their school and their pride,
And they'll fight to the end, side by side.

But it's not just about the game, it's about the bond,
Between Pensacola Eagle and Satsuma, lifelong friends beyond.
They cheer on their team, through thick and thin,
And they know that together, they will always win.

And let's not forget Kicking Tee, a loyal supporter,
Who's been there through it all, a true reporter.
For years he's watched and cheered them on,
Through victories and losses, from dusk till dawn.

So here's to the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, strong and true,
May they soar high and bring glory to you.
With Jockco's predictions,
Eagle 70 whiskey, and their loyal fans,
They'll go down in history as a team that truly stands.

I Have had enough!

After a 15-year lap, I began to watch USM baseball again. It was a good year, but it fell short of a great year by losing to OM in the regionals. This year is vastly different. Appalling have been the coaching decisions, pitching, and hitting. We have not been victorious against any decent team. I can no longer watch a coach leave a pitcher in the game walking a personal record number of walks before a hard ground ball hits him. I can no longer tolerate watching hitters swing at balls that could be identified as wild pitches. I have had it.
