Ok, changing the flag is ok, but do you know what gripes my ass. The fact that we did it and the almighty sec and the black athletes at the state Universities issued a ultimatium. The sec threatened the two schools up north with no champion, or regionals if it didn't change and cusa did the same to us. A did the ncaa. The athletes threaten not to play again until it was changed. Just like everything else they got their way. No conference should tell a state how to run their business. I would have waited until the football season was over and made the change next year and called the athletes bluff. If they didn't play replace them. It is like an employee telling the boss what to do of he won't come to work. Fire him and get on with business but don't let people tell you how to run the state. Of course all of the lawmakers in Mississippi are om or state and you knew they would buckle and give in.

Someone should get the word out that the name "ole Miss" is a slave name. Ole miss is the name slaves gave to the plantation master's wife. That is more racist than the flag,

For the record, The NCAA banned postseason championships in states that had the confederate battle flag 19 or 20 years ago. The problem that no one wanted to talk about was that in many cases, the NCAA didnt follow its own rule with the postseason ban. College baseball, softball, tennis, golf, etc.... All comprised of largely white athletes were never banned.... but football and to a lesser extent men's basketball in some of those states including Mississippi (where the majority of athletes are black) were penalized. black athletes argued and were very much right, like it or not, that this would be a clear example of systemic racism. All the NCAA, SEC and CUSA did was affirm that the organizations would be following a almost two decade old rule as a result of some athletes pointing it out. This isnt something new.
I have never understood how that has never been addressed. Also, the state flag of Georgia is a carbon copy of the actual CSA flag, not the battle flag. Why has the SEC and NCAA never said anything about that?
I thought the original ban was for planned events (bowl games and men’s basketball), which exempted baseball and women’s basketball regionals.
