Today was the first day in pads this spring for Southern Miss and the intensity from the first two sessions carried over nicely.

- Head coach Todd Monken continued his 1-on-1 drills aimed at toughness and making guys compete.

- Andrew Peterson made his appearance and he's big, really big. He is also very physical, very aggressive and seems to play with a mean streak. If Norman Price slips up Peterson looks ready and able to jump in and take over.

- Linebacker depth continues to improve. D'Nerius Antoine is going to be a big, big help this year. Also look for positive contributions from Jeremy Sangster and Darian Yancey. Also, looks like walk-on Adarius Perkins has bulked up and will also add depth at LB.

- Another player that I am expecting to have a great spring is Picasso Nelson. He's taken to his new position at Safety and I think he's ready to excel.

- Taylor Marini continues to make play after play. The TE position is going to be a very important part of what Southern Miss does next year. Ready to see how Julian Allen can contribute too, but will likely be summer before we're able to see that.

- Both QB's threw the ball well today.

- Watched the running backs a little and saw some good things from George Payne and Ito Smith.

- There were several more prospects at practice today as well. Digging to find exactly who they were.
