Took in most of Southern Miss practice today and here's a few notes:
- I really expect Southern Miss to be much better on the OL this coming year. Monken stated after practice that Cameron Tom was the only OL that had locked down a starting position. While I won't argue with the coach I don't see anyone getting ahead of Rashod HIll at LT or Devin Farrior at RG at this point. Best battles are at LT between Norman Price and Drew Peterson and LG with Brandon Farmer and Oliver Bates.
- Both QB's played well today. Two plays that stood out to me was Tyler Matthews threading the needle between three defenders, James Cox made a great catch broke two tackles and sprinted to the endzone. Late Nick Mullens lead his group down the field and used a nice touch pass over the middle to find Daythan Davis who was lined up at TE for a nice 10 yard or so TD pitch and catch.
- Southern Miss continued to have a number of prospects at practice. Also signee Paxton Schrimsher was in attendance. Man he looks big and ready to play.
