Greece and Spain are good case studies. The lost decade of Japan is another.
Or how about at the turn of the 20th century Argentina had the highest per Capita income of the entire world. Now their borderline third world. If you want to know why the musical Evita can be a start point in exploring that.
Also Cuba before Castro took over had an income of about 2/3 the United States. Now its at 1/4.
Brazil seems like a perfectly socialized country to me. Look at their economy though. Despite being called an emerging economic power every time I turn around their economy is barely growing. They have everything going for them too. Educated workforce, abundant natural resources, good climate for tourism and business growth. And yet they have some provinces (Maranhau and Piaiu) that barely average US $4,000 a year per Capita.
I could name dozens of other countries. And really every country on the Earth now as everyone is going toward increased governments sizes, huge social spending, massive government regulation, and government more involved in business.
You don't think government is involved in business decisions? Look no further than a bill sponsored by moderate democrat- (my opinion) John McCain and Extreme lefty Harry Reid, at changing the officials rulings on boxing matches at Las Vegas. Ya for bi-partisanship I guess? They have no business looking into officiating at boxing events.
If every single country on the planet was taking a right-wing approach (cutting deficits, reducing regulations, privatizations) I would be deeply troubled. I do not want every country taking a right-wing approach as how could you tell if it's the best system or not? Different countries need to do different things to test out what works best. Instead were all going socialist.
Note I'm not talking strict socialism. If the government has so many regulations that its impossible to follow them in a business without hiring people that do nothing but tell you how to follow regulations then its essentially government owned. They are telling you how to run your businesses. Right down to how you should referee your boxing matches.

You are wrong. Every time I fill my truck up with overpriced gas, I get pissed. Every time I check out at the grocery store, where I am paying $300 for the same amount of food that I bought for $150 four years ago, I get pissed. Every year when my health insurance premiums go up more than my annual raise, I get pissed. Every time I look at my check stub and see more taxes taken out to fund the left's socialist programs for for their scumbag supporters, I get pissed. Every time I pay my skyrocketing utility bills, I get pissed. Every time I get on this board and see some clueless dumbass defend this worthless POS president that is making life hell for the middle class, I get pissed.
I don't listen to conservative radio, and rarely watch news on TV. I don't need anyone to tell me to get pissed when I am reminded of how terrible Obama is on a daily basis. I'm sick of Obama, and I'm sick of his supporters trying to tell me it's just raining while Obama pisses on the head of every WORKING American. It's disgusting, and it's especially disgusting when people like you claim "that's just the way it is" and act like it can't be any better. Well, it CAN be better. We just need people to wake up and demand real change. Get rid of these socialist scumbags that have bankrupted America, and don't even care. I'm confused. How is whats happening in Greece happening here in the future not something to get worked up about? When there are life saving surgeries being delayed for kids because they can't get the equipment they need based on credit and the kids die I think its absolutely something that needs to be protested whether someone dies early due to it or not because in Greece's case many people have died including these innocent kids. (While Greece does have some private hospitals they are heavily, heavily regulated (like the US) and all equipment has to be backed up by government credit whether private or not. They only got through the hundreds of miles and regulations and bureaucratic red tape after the kids died. Which will happen in any society that is regulated to death).
The main argument is we can always cut around these regulations, laws, bureaucratic red tape when emergencies happen or we need too. And Greece did. Only after the children died.
Since I wasn't on here when Bush was president you couldn't see my reactions to him. And yes he did piss me off. I thought he had hardly any conservative credentials, led the government in one of the most expensive increases ever in history (much of it not military), and caused massive harm to this nation. That being said Obama's worse.
And I get a little tired of people saying over reaction. You base that on what? I base it on the economies that were once prosperous that been left in the death throes by liberalism. Argentina, Cuba, Greece. So when your child happens to be on the deathbed and can't get the procedures needed to save their lives because of bureaucratic red tape and regulations. I'd like to hear you tell them "well honey it was nothing to get worked up about because all of the other presidents were bad too."

No need to feel sorry for any of us PensacolaEagle. We currently live in largess that our children will be paying off. Were fine. They will not be. Just like Greece/Spain/Japan/Argentina, where over 20% of all taxes go to paying off debt accrued over the last hundred or so years. (Japan is better off than most because most of the debt is held by private citizens. This is not the case in the USA (where most debt is held by foreign countries) and all those tax dollars your children will be paying will be going to other countries benefiting them at the expense of the US) How you can fine with that situation is beyond my comprehension. To live off the backs of our children is immoral. And before you say that wont happen I'd like to say based on what? Those countries I listed all have over 100% of GDP to debt like us. We just got there though, while these countries have been there for a while so we haven't hit the mark were were paying more on debt coming due than were getting through issuing debt. It will happen though. That is an indisputable fact. Debt has to be payed off. Nice off us to do that to our children.

What did he say out of curiosity? I despise McCarthyism so if he said anything like that I would have a problem with him and would not support him if he ran for president (Which he can't do anyway since he wasn't born in the US).

Oh, please. That fat dyke doesn't have a prayer of ever getting elected. She can't even win the primary, much less the general election. She committed political suicide by letting Obama throw her under the bus over Benghazi. The voters won't forget that. Her winning the Dem nomination would be the best thing to ever happen to Republicans. The fact that she's even be talked about, much less being touted as a contender shows how weak the Dems will be in 2016.

I don't know you, but I know your type. Got several friends that love Obama just like you. Most have never had to work hard for anything. They usually don't have kids. They've never had a hard day in their life. They think that everyone else's life is unicorns and rainbows, just like theirs. They don't care about the economy. They don't care about the record number of people living in poverty. They are set, so they don't understand those of us that don't have everything handed to them. They idolize the Hollywood types, and are brainwashed by people like Michael Moore. In other words, they don't live in the real world. They live in the fantasy land painted by the left-wing elitists, and their vote is based on the "touchy feely" nonsense instead of common sense. Like you, all they can do is say stupid things like "4 more years", because they can't defend anything Obama has done. They can't list anything positive that Obama has accomplished. They can't say why he is good for the country. And they really don't care. All they want to do is say "I voted for the black guy", and "4 more years". Well Pensacola, the first thing that has to happen in order for one our "Conservative favorites" to be elected is to actually have a conservative be nominated. What the GOP has had is moderate Republicans that can't get elected because of the fact that they are so moderate, and have no way to distinguish themselves from the big government/big spending President Bush.

I did not say don't get worked up about it. i stay ticked off about the whole thing, not just one team. I wrote: nothing has changed to GET YOU ANYMORE UPSET than usual. I tell you I work for an extremely conservative county. All you hear is how Washington is screwed up and it's all the Democrats tax and spend blah blah blah. I thought that too. But the truth is this supposedly conservative crew never cuts anything, always looks to spend more and more. When the budget year ends do they give the extra back to the tax payer? No, they hire new people, paint, recarpet, buy cars, build new offices, totally remodel offices, buy new toys...anything but give it back. They have done this every year while we have been in an economic slump. I figure if this is what happens on the local level people from people who do nothing but espouse conservative values then we are doomed. They always point at THOSE people who are growing govt. meanwhile in a situation that they could actually do something about...they do the same thing.

I can't figure out if your talking about national or local. If it's national how can republicans cut the budget if the liberals are going to veto it. Of course there's no budget cutting in that case. It wouldn't matter if every second of every day they put out bills to cut spending cause the liberals would just prevent the bill from ever coming to the senate floor to be voted on.
If it's local. That's your problem. The republicans in my state and county have successfully stopped government growth in Florida (no government growth for 3 straight years despite a population growing at over 1% per year) and the county has successfully cut spending 10%.

One adds to this and is willing to cut that and vice versa. As far as adding to legislation they are both horrible. i don't think congress should even be a full time job.

Ellis Johnson hurt a football program. The damage he caused can be swiftly repaired. Obama wrecked an entire country. We may never recover from the debt that he is accumulating, and the abomination of a healthcare law he forced down our throats. It's not difficult to understand if one takes their head out of Obama's posterior.
Neither side has cut anything. Even with the sequester there were no cuts and there will be an increase in spending. Yes the Republcans have grown government, especially Bush, but Obama has taken anything the Republicans ever did wrong and did it exponentially bad. Does that make it OK? No, it just makes it that much worse. I am not a Republican. I am a conservative with libertarian leanings. A large part of the Republican party needs to be put to bed. They are interested in big government and getting reelected, and getting the press to like them. I would love to see a third party of real conservatives rise up and take over. I don't see it happening, though. Everything is too rigged.
While I don't think they all stink, I will say I have problems with most,and don't hate any of them. I don't hate even Obama, who I think is doing more harm to this country than anyone that has ever lived. Glad to finally have a feel for where you stand slakfish. As to my being "part libertarian," I am primarily a conservative. I too base my beliefs in freedom and smaller government. It's just that for the most part the libertarians of today go too far in the direction of "any thing goes." IMO the libertarian position as I've heard it explained by party leaders leans to much toward anarchy. I like what our Founding Fathers put in the Constitution and right now my favorite person to get us back there is Rand Paul.
