The Department of Energy was created to get us off of dependence on foreign energy. Since it was created we are five times more dependent than when it was created. And lets not even mention the billions spent on the department. Oh wait, I've got an idea. That worked out so well, let's turn over our health care to the government too. I forgot. We already did it. Oh well, I sure it will work out differently.

The word for the day is >>> muddle.
Everything the government gets involved in becomes a muddle.

Vets, seniors, and the ill rarely moan about their health care....until last year at least when it was funny seeing the same people who qualify for such assistance riled up about it...

On one hand you are right hotrock in that all need to start being willing to take a hit and get off the government handout wagon. We are going into crisis bankrupt mode NOW! On the other hand they should complain when that same government is causing their health care to go up in cost, down in quality, and add to the deficit.

typical!!!!!

Vets earned it..that's not a handout. It's part of the contract signed when you sign up. If the govt' does not want to provide health care for vets, fine, take it out of the contract.

I agree that the vets earned it. Don't have a problem with that. I do have a problem with the way it is handled by the government. Obama is the one that doesn't want to take care of the vets. What was one of the first things he tried to do? Take away extended health care from the wounded vets. Now that is low. We are talking about our warriors that lost limbs and such and Obama said he could save a few million by cutting off their benefits after a few years. Fortunately that was stopped.

That's a good example of what we are seeing happening to our country right now. America is a sick patient and very near the point of no return. The medicine has always been within our reach, and the label simply says "cut spending and reduce the size of government."

There was a time when government programs and departments were designed to address problems, and if they did not they were eliminated. Those days are over. Now it's about power and politics.

Since Lyndon Johnson signed his 'great society' programs into law, liberal politicians discovered they could secure favorable status among certain voters by granting gifts from the federal treasury. Hence, we started getting the deluge of federal entitlement programs that transfer massive amounts of cash from the taxpayer coffers. All in the name of curing the ills of society, etc.

Did those programs work? Well, they have been in place now for many decades and our welfare population has exploded. We have 12-year olds getting pregnant, and single motherhood is now a career choice due to the liberal promises of paying cash to those who own that status. The majority of public schools fail to educate properly, and we see far too many 18-year olds getting diplomas they cannot even read. Liberals have given us a tax system that actually punishes people if they get married. We have a Medicaid system that punishes people if they try to improve their situation and acquire wealth (it's called 'getting a job'). The entire welfare system penalizes people who try to save money instead of spending it. Those who blindly vote for liberals don't even realize they are being kept down under the guise of being lifted up. It's a big lie, and they fell for it.

All this is catching up to us now. We have more takers than givers. Right now, there are just as many people in America who do not pay taxes as those who do. The number of taxpayers continues to decline. The corporate and business world, ironically, is portrayed as greedy and evil by the very people who depend on the taxes they pay. The companies that liberals love to hate provide jobs the rest of us go to each day. And taken from our wages is money used to continue the madness.

The value of the dollar continues to plummet as our government stubbornly refuses to cut its size and spending, opting instead to borrow more money than the next three generations can ever hope to repay. We are broke, in debt up to our eyeballs, and we have a president who wants to pile on more of the same...more spending, more taxes, bigger government and more borrowed money to keep it afloat a while longer.

Most of us will be alive to see where this ends.
