Other teams that have been in and out of hosting position — East Carolina, Indiana, Southern Miss — have fallen back into the 29-33 range in the RPI, and all three now seem like long shots. Southern Miss probably has the best chance of that trio, with a No. 29 RPI and a 14-7 record in the Sun Belt, just a game behind Coastal Carolina. If the Golden Eagles can win the regular-season title in the Sun Belt — the No. 5 RPI league — they have a legit shot to host even with an RPI outside the top 16.
